I usally fly bombers and I've shot a chute once (with my tail gun) and that was in spite because if he hadn't been shot down by a friendly P-38 then I would have been on the flaming road to death instead along with 14,000 lbs of 100% Rook made vengence. Anyway he plumeted to his doom, I dropped my payload and ruined someones day:)

LOL, in answer to the original question of the best way to shoot a chute IMHO the best way is to leave him hanging.  :)

It wastes gas, ammo and gets him back up flying quicker. Why would you wanna do that? Especially when he's already shot?
