You guys obviously haven't found the ultimate night fighter.  I get a lot of kills in it when the sun goes down, and I don't even know how to mess with my monitor.  My official nightfighter has a real nice gunsight that works well in the dark.

Get out of your Spitfire/LA-7/N1K2/P-51D and get into a real man's plane.

I for one really don't like nighttime.  It's just silly to be flying around in VFR dayfighters, dogfighting at night.

What would be cool is if the nighttime effect blacked out icons as well.  Then add some nightfighter version of the Mossie and 110 and allow these to see icons in their forward quarter within a certain distance.  Setup some spotlights coming up from the cities, that searched for enemy bombers.  Now that would make for an interesting night environment.

Aces High has a nightfighter with an illuminating gunsight.  That, coupled with the Clipboard radar display, makes for a very effective nightfighter.

Hints:  Its not a Mustang.  Its not a Spitfire.  Its not a N1k2.  Its not an LA-7.

Turn off night, or at least turn off the orange soup that temporally brackets it.

To me, it is like driving a car, in the fog, into a setting sun that is just above the horizon.  Sure you can "see the targets" (sort of), but it's hardly worth the effort.

That's a real man's plane, but that's not the best nightfighter on the block.  But you're right - the one I'm thinking of does have air to ground capability.

Anyone care to make another guess?
