« on: August 21, 2003, 09:42:55 AM »
With all the viruses and worms around I thought I had a good protection system on the puter *musta broke the condom* soo to make things short I have no "Red" to my colors on the puter.
It's killin me.  Hard to fly when there is no RED icons.

If any of you good puter types out there please help me get the red back.

  Beggin.

Do you mean that your moniter is not showing red anymore?.

if that is the case.
it is more than likly your moniter.
you will probably have to replace it.

Did you try to twist the signal cord near the plugs? both on video card and on monitor?

90% of such malfunctions are caused by a break in a VGA cord or bad contacts in the plugs. VGA uses an analog signal, with separate lines for every of three colours.  You can also try to reverse the signal cable. Also look at the pins in 15-pin VGA plugs, some of them may be bended.

If your OSD shows normal colours - it is probably something outside the monitor.

Broda the problem with the OSD is that it show's the RED as Black..hardly distinguishable as any color than just black.  I'll try the cable bit you recommended. Thanks Comrade, Bud.

If OSD shows red as black - then I think that unfortunately you need a new monitor :( Or just find a repair shop to fix it, but I don't know if it's cheaper then to buy a new monitor...
