a Lazs weekend special... but what is it?
« on: August 18, 2003, 06:27:51 PM »
I just looked back at the pics I took when visiting a friend in CO that I knew from working for an American company 1996-97. He had been over here, and then I was over there - a joint US/UK venture...

Anyway, his son had a yellow car - pic attached. Probably the sort of thing some mullet headed poofs would use to run over me. I was taken for a ride in this thing - good job he'd run out of nitrous - lol.

But what IS it? It made a very nice vroom-vroom sound, but that's all I know.

That's a Maverick or a Comet.  I have long forgotten how to distinguish between them.  Slightly above the Pinto on the food chain.

I'd guess '71 Maverick,  didnt '72 begin the years of the hugh 5mph bumpers with the bumper guards on the front.

Maverick,  poor man's Mustang,  think they even had a Boss 302 Maverick

No Curval, at least not any more. He did have a mullet, in fact he was using this car to chase after some limey who called him a freaking poofta. He forgot that the nitrous was still turned on, and the car accelerated at such a rate that his mullet was sucked out of the window, and got wrapped around the driver's side front hubcap. The mullet was ripped off his head, but the force pulled off the hubcap, which then went rolling down the road - the mullet giving it a tumbleweed effect. Anyway, that's how the front hubcap came to be missing.

70 or 71 maverick I think... go along with funked on this one... I try to forget those cars ever were built.   I probly had a small block ford in it (that's all that will fit easily and this guy don't look like and engineer to me).... 289 or 302 with an automatic.   Probly went faster without the hood scoop causing all that wind resistance.   All V8's sound good if in good tune.
