Chaos, you need to make sure you have the keys mapped - I think the default is W for Land mode and E for Sea mode. I am not entirely sure how Sea mode works, but Land mode is used when hitting land targets.
When in one of the large gun positions, hit W for Land mode, then bring up the Clipboard map, zoom right in to the field you are hitting, and click on the field. The gun will then move round to point at the field and will automatically be at the right angle to hit the area you clicked.... as the ship moves, it will stay trained on the target as long as possible - otherwise it will swing around as the ship turns to retrain itself again.
When you fire the big gun, hit F8 to enter pan mode and zoom right in ..... use the 8 on the keypad to lower your view from that of the gunsight so that you can see the target and can see where your shells hit. You will find that you will be able to make small adustments yourself and as you get more experienced will be able to hit a lot of targets consistently.
Lots of shells firing and not sure which are yours? When you first fire, use the 2 on the keypad to look up and find your shells/tracers, then follow them down with the 8 - if yours hit anything you will see the hit sprites.... make any adjustments and fire again.
Then watch for the 'xxx destroyed' messages in the text buffer.
