You will need to put a zero on the end of that figure before you could even think about it.

Homes here are separated between ones available for locals only and those available for non-Bermudians.

Condos start at about 700k for those that a non-local could buy.  Houses start at 1M in that case, but even 1M would be iffy.  Probably 2M is the cheapest you would pay.

That is the purchase price.

Then you would pay 22.75% duty to the govt for the priviledge of owning here.

It is why we only get guys like Bloomberg or Perot buying here.

Now, Bermuda is not a Carribean island, so I can't comment on those islands.

lol Box.

I was expecting you to say a cardboard box, so I wasn't far off. I came close to buying a place in Ocho Rios, Jamaica a few years ago for $200K....still kicking myself over that one.
My mind is a raging torrent, flooded with rivulets of thought cascading into a waterfall of creative alternatives.
Stay thirsty my friends.

Only the type suitable for golf-courses Udie.

The other type is rare indeed here.;)

Thanks all...I really can't wait to move in.

Dickey actually had plans for a pool to go in at the front of the house.  The design shows the pool running underneath the walkway which leads to the front door.  Really interesting and stunning design which will give the front an even greater "moat" feeling.  He has estimated a cost of over 100k to put it in..and the plans actually cost 11k to have done.

He handed me the plans free of charge.

He also had planning permission to build it which now goes to me.

Of course I don't have the 100k for the pool now, but it is definately something to work towards.

Wlfgng...I rent jetskis..I don't own them.  Boat and jet-skis are "holes in the water" into which you pour money.  It costs me $100 to rent a ski for an hour...expensive...maybe...bu t when I'm done I hand it back to the rental place and never have to give it another thought.

Some friends of mine bought a boat.  They claim that the word actually is an acronym for Break Out Another Thousand.:D
