How ya gonna make the terrain textures? What  Ya think the scenario textures from AW's SAC will look good?  Any way to get pictures of the real textures and use that?

I understand that ms flight sim 2000 can import terrain data from u.s. geological as well.  Do they have terrain textures that we can use?

Me, me, me <holds hand in the air and jumps up and down>. I'll help beta test this map. So, Verm...still looking for a volunteer to do the map for "Operation Atlantis." I've got a hand-drawn and scanned notional map as a starting place. What about it? Excellant work, btw; but then, I think you may have heard that somewhere already  .

Vermillion, your terrain is too cool.

one question.

Is your terrain's coastline smooth?
my terrain's one is always square.

Thanks.

Unfortunately Mitsu, your coastline will remain jagged/sawtooth like that. There is nothing at this point that you can do. Its a limitation of the terrain texturing system, and our current textures.

To me its the biggest limitation of the current editor and hopefully HTC will give us a fix for it.

But IMO its better than nothing, and something I can live with.

If you try to fly over the port area at Tunis, (if you can squint your eyes a little and ignore the sawtooth coastline), it will definitely look like the real harbor area.

Corsica, Sardinia, Sicily, and the "Boot" area of Italy, are all very recognizeable as you fly around within my terrain.

Try slightly different scaling factors to the terrain data you load in, and it might help some.

Wow, the Islands look awful. "The Blocks of Dover" were not what I had in mind creating.

IT might be more immersive to stick with land based maps till the texture thingy is fixed. Is there a planned update for that?

-EDIT-
Found in TE Topic-
"This will change, so don't worry for now about your coasts being all sharp and jagged or your planes being able to land on the water." PYRO

Cool.
