I recieved the email about signing up for AH for $19.95/mnth. I have been waiting to sign up with AH for a while and when I got this email I thought that this would be the perfect time to sign up. I replied to the email and told them that I would definately be signing up. After downloading the game and playing offline for a few days I have changed my mind.  Due to the fact that I have a AMDK6, my framerate is very low, like 6-7 fps. (and yes I have downloaded the drivers and sped up my machine as the FAQ's suggested)I dont know exactly what the problem is because this didnt happen in Warbir..... you know that other sim.

I hope this message, in addition to the poll that I took, has helped Pyro and Hitech in their decisions to make this the best game they can.

I will be back when i can get better framerates with my system.

Dunno if you tried this but I boosted my framerate significantly by setting my vid card and the game to 16 bit color.

Hiyas....

I am sorry to tell ya this, but HTC does not support the AMD chipset...or at least the k6...I used to run a k6 chip and could never get more than 28fps.

You will need to upgrade to an intel chip and a new MB.

Sorry

You don't work for Intel do you Ice?    The AMD Athlon (K7) works just fine too..and for a lot less money.

Aye, got a bargain on a 133 board and 750 thunderbird, happy beyond all expectations.

The K6 was a bargain basement chip.  I think most of the frustrations with it are people who got one as part of a package not informed on what they were buying.  I was happy with my K6-2-450, not because it outperformed pentium III 450 (not even the same ballpark), but because it cost me a whopping $40.  Knowing what I was buying, I was satisfied with what I got.

Now they're not only producing chips cheaper, but better at the same time.

Back to the original, I did okay with my K6-450 dropping down to 1024 res Redfishn (held 30+ framerates in 32bit).  I'd drop all the way to 640 and/or 16 bit if it meant better frame rates.  I did have a bit of memory (256 megs) and a decent 32meg video card.  With the latest generation hitting the stores now, you might look at some of the 2nd, 3rd tier, you can get some real bargains.  Depending what you have in there a little memory probably wouldn't hurt either (though really I'd suggest upgrading the K2 chip, not sure if you're open to that yet).

What Fatty said    I got crappy frame rates with my K6-2. You could try a K6-III if you can find one. I upgraded to a K6-III 450, and frame rates held at about 35-40. They can be tough to find, but they're still cheap. Having at least 128mb of RAM will make a huge difference. Make sure you have Direct X 7.0a installed.

If you really want to improve performance, get a new motherboard and CPU. The prices are falling, and you can get a real good combo cheap. Got a 700mhz Athlon, and Asus mobo for $300, and that was about 4 months ago, so I'm sure its cheaper now. Throw in a Geforce 256 for around $125, and frame rates stay at 60-65 running at 1600x1200.
