Kill stealing happens.  Sometimes on purpose.  Sometimes it is an accident.

If I ever kill steal, it is usually an accident unless at least one of the following conditions apply:

1.  You have stolen a kill from me

2.  You are an asinine tard on country channel

3.  You whine about kill stealing on channel 1, 2, 3 (or any channel i happen to be tuned to) or the bbs

4.  You are in my squad

You aren't shooting yourself... you're shooting a building.  Last I saw, there weren't alot of buildings floating around that randomely popped in front of you.

If you're "shooting yourself" while flying, it's most likely that another friendly plane was going after the same target and your aircraft is overlapping enough for k/s to take effect, but not so you'd visually notice it.

You can damage your own aircraft with your own rounds.  It's happenend to me a few times.  Making strafing runs on armor and I forget not to pull the both fire button and my mini gun rounds hit me.  Last night I took out my own radiator doing that.

Few enjoy having their kills stolen but you only encourage this sort of activity by *****ing about it.
