http://www.floc.net/dpjudge/gamemaps/oclub.gif?map=0.852115Has the tide turned? The previously unstoppable Russian steamroller has fallen on hard times. This season alone, Tsar fd-ski has lost Sweden to the Germans and Vienna to the Austrians. Concurrent with these events, the Tsar has decided to make strategic withdrawals into Moscow and the Ukraine.
Meanwhile, not wanting to let the Tsar be the bearer of all the bad news, French President Tarmac has, to his chagrin, learned of a monumental French traffic pileup in the south, resulting in a multitude of bounces. His carefully laid plan of movement towards Italy have come to a crashing halt, thanks to the Italian Navy showing it’s teeth.
King Raubvogel of Italy has decided to abandon the Ionian Sea and race to the west to defend the homeland. He was also instrumental in destroying the Russian army in Vienna, by blocking that army’s avenue of retreat after it’s crushing defeat by the forces of Austria.
In what could be considered a very rare and important event, Sultan Crabofix of Turkey has abandoned the Black Sea, and is heading west. Thus, the Black Sea stands empty, a truly unique event in Diplomacy. The question remains, however, for how long? The Sultan has nearly the entire Balkans region locked up for Turkey. Is the Turkish crescent on the rise?
In Austria, the citizens of Vienna held a special parade today for the liberating armies of the Archduke Sickboy, who has returned to his seat of power amid loud, tumultuous cheers. The loss of Serbia to Turkey will no doubt cast a dark cloud over the celebrations, but the Archduke can be happy to have finally won his original provinces back.
The order of the day in Berlin was one of regroup, refit, and prepare for the invasion of…..of….It is a question on the minds of all concerned. Where will Kaiser Sandman unleash his armies now that Sweden is his, and Norway is threatened?
The fall movement phase could be very interesting, indeed.
