and as he runs low on fuel and heads home into the setting sun the brave spitfire pilot reaches for his cigarette case only to witness in horror the sight and deafening crash of a 30mm shell bursting through his chest!.
his final sight the bright glint off the nose of something shark like as in dissapears into mist.

FDisk,

While I agree that it will need to be perked, you over do it on your description of the Spitfire MkXIV.

Speed at Sea Level: 357mph.  Quite few fighters are faster.
Top speed:448mph at 26,000ft. Faster than even the Ta152H-1 at that altitude.
Initial Climb Rate: 4,580ft per minute. Very fast, but not the fastest in AH.
Roll Rate: Slightly worse at low speed, and slightly better at high speed than the Spitfire F.MkIX in AH now.
Turn Rate: Very similar to the Spitfire F.MkIX in AH now.
Ordinance: One 500lb bomb and two 250lb bombs or eight 60lb rockets.

Is it a Perk?  Yes, absolutely.  Is it the best at everyting when compared to the other aircraft in AH?  Absolutely not.

Hm... AFAIK the XIV got the Spitfire VIII style wing, which had shorter span ailerons and which was somewhat strenghtened structure over the Spitfire V wing of the early IX. I have not seen numbers for this, but it should have a bit slower roll rate at slow speeds and somewhat better at high speeds.

IMHO, FWIW, if you perk a Spit XIV, then the 109G10 and FW190D9 have to be perked too, if only for the simple reason that they are from the same time frame.  Same with the P51D......kinda discriminatory to perk the Spit and not the others.

Why won't you people stop discriminating spitfires! How far have we come?

Because the spit has the performance of g10, d9 and 51 but it can turnnnnnn, where as the others can't.
