Friday, Sept 5th...........Tunisia
« on: September 05, 2003, 09:21:51 AM »
Welcome to Tunisia!

The Germans and Italians have managed to hold on and keep a foothold in the region.
The Americans have brought in newer fighters to try and keep pace with the German Luftwaffe
and the P-47D-11 Thunderbolt is now in the theater.  However, it is not yet completely suited
to the ground attack role it was brought in theater to do, as it can carry only one 500 pound bomb.
In an effort to bridge the gap, the British have sent several squadrons of Mosquito fighter-bombers,
with a squadron of Typhoons rumored to be enroute.
The Germans have countered by sending a group of FW190-F8 ground attack fighters to the region, to complement
their Me-109 series squadrons already in place, along with a group of FW-190A5 fighters

The Americans and British have deployed several carrier fleets along the northern coastal areas to assist
and provide additional airpower.
Meanwhile, Germany has managed to secretly develop an aircraft carrier of their own, and has equipped it with
Me-109E4 and Me-109F4 fighters and the dreaded Ju-87 Stukas.
Alongside their cruiser fleet and destroyer fleet, they plan on reeking havoc at sea with their newest weapon.

Aircraft available:

SBD (US fleets)
TBM  (British fleets)

Ground vehicles:
PNZR

M8
M16
LVT's
Above are available to both sides.

Fleets have LVT's and PT boats enabled.

This is a nonhistorical setup, intended more for fun than any historical accuracy.
Fuel hardness increased slightly.
Down times for towns has been DECREASED.

As always, remember this is a game.  Please conduct yourselves as ladies and gentlemen at all times.

NOTE:  Typhoon was not added to the Allied planeset.  Instead, I added the Mosquito, as the on-the-deck speed of the Typhoon was far ahead of anything in the Axis planeset.  Ground attack capability was not compromised.

"LOL, the axis WHINED the Typhoon right out of the Map! Damn crybabies."

Wrong.
Karnak made a suggestion, and I looked into the matter.
The Typhoon is right at 30mph faster on the deck than any of the other planes involved in this setup.
That factor alone made me look really hard at whether or not to add it.
The Mossie is right in the same ballpark as the Axis rides, carries the same amount of ordnance as the Tiffie, has a good cannon array, so........I added it instead.

I am receptive to open minded suggestions.  Sometimes it's all in how diplomatically it is worded.  Correction............it is always how it is worded and delivered.

FWIW........I've planned a setup update later in the week.  Read the MOTD and you will get a hint of what might be coming.....;)

Otherwise, stick around til Wednesday or Thursday of next week to see what "might" happen.

It shouldn't have anything to do with how it is worded or presented.... Only if it is true and the facts are there.

Maybe, but ya know, I can't imagine anyone flying axis if they had to fight the Typhoon/Mk IX combo with a 190A5 and G6, yaknow?

Whether or not a suggestion is adopted does have everything to do with truth and fact.  However, whether or not the suggestion is received and considered by the CT staff is often tied to how the suggestion is presented.  We (the CT staff) are only human.  As such, we're inclined to listen more intently to a respectful and well presented suggestion than to a emotional rant.

Ya freakin' idiot! Why don't you just keep your mouth shut next time you want to say something as stupid as that? I mean, seriously. The intelligence level of such a comment-...

And, pause. You're about ready to flame me, yes? Point made.

The way you say something really does make a difference to how receptive the other person is going to be. You may be the rightest person in the world, but if you deliver your facts in an incredibly rude manner, people will only be put on the defensive and close their ears to the facts.

so the Typhhon is 30mph faster...lol, so when the P-40E gonna get fixed were it is 30mph faster at 15k like it is suppose to be? That make s it suck against the 109 at 15k...the 109 is 65 mph faster....I might be a tad off on the numbers, I dont have them in front of me at the moment.  Remember a few maps back when all allies had aganst the 109s was the P-40E?

Couldn't agree more....

If it was an historical planeset... and it was unbalanced we could rationalize and say.. well we are reliving a portion of history.... but to have an ahistorical setup.. and have the dominant IX in there.

LOL Red Dog!

Am still trying to turn a ME 262 into a Mirage III & MIG 21 for my SIX DAY WAR 1967 set-up.
HTC won't come across with any A2A heatseeking missiles though. Oh well... back to the drawing board....  ;)
