bloom,

I found your post very useful and have the SP1 packs ready to burn but I can't make the >ie6setup.exe /c:"ie6wzd.exe /d /s:""#E"< line work.  The Browse error box says "The above file name is invalid."

I have XP.  I don't think it matters but I'm saving the files to the (new directory-> C:\IE6_SP1_WinXP) on the C drive and drive E is my CD burner.
Easy in-game again.

Did you download the ie6setup.exe utility from Microsoft's site before trying to run that?  (The link should be in the post, you want the one for IE 6 SP1.)  Once you have it, go to start -> run, then browse to find that file.  Once the path and file are on the run line, add the rest (copy and paste it).

Just as a sidenote, the IE 6 cumulative patch in the post I made was superceeded with a new cumulative patch.  The new number is 822925 if I recall correctly.

Right, I downloaded the file and put it in the directory C:\IE6_SP1_WinXP.
Then I Start>Run>Browse...>(you get "Please insert a disk in drive A" if you don't have a disk in there)>navagate to the file>paste in > .exe /c:"ie6wzd.exe /d /s:""#E" < and click open.

That's when I get the error message in XP Pro.  No problem, I've got the other stuff all together and it will save me a lot of time.

Thanks for the great tips.
Easy in-game again.
