Scramble! Enemy strike inbound!
« on: August 12, 2000, 04:34:00 AM »
These were the orders given to us that fateful (k)night. Enemy bombers and an equal amount of escorts inbound on our headquarter. Incidentally where I keep all my porn.

Not wishing to see it lost and spread to the wind, I happily obeyed orders. My mechanics were surprised when I gave the order to add 20m gondolas and exchange the 20mm cowl mounted cannon with a 30mm one, but they happily agreed, themselves not wishing for my porn (which includes legendary pictures of rook/bish women in odd positions) to be destroyed.

Once in the air, the wingleader Zigrat gave the order to engage WEP in order to quickly gain altitude. Not long after, my 109G10 was struggling at 1.8k/s to break 29 000 feet.

"Bandits, 10 o clock, co alt, the lower ones are the bombers. I am in on the leader" were the words of the wing leader.

"Copy that, I follow, in on second".

The bombers were lower than their escorts, at about 22-23k estimated. Hard to tell; my brain was being confused by the weightlesness at 29k. As I dived and fired into the second buff, he suddenly did the most extraordinary thing; he disappeared from my gun solution and reappeared 400 yards further ahead, making me overshoot. The enemy must have developed a new secret weapon!

Aaaargh compression! 19k...18k..17...16...YES, no more compression, zoom climb....where is the enemy?

Ahead of me, advancing towards our HQ were now at least five bombers and as many escorts; all the escorts were above the enemy.
Slowly, I gained altitude, keeping an eye on the escort. A P-51 broke off as I approached, ignoring the other LW fighters who were actually in range and firing, killing the enemy buffs. A quick jink, the P51 misses, goes low extends and runs. As I approach the bombers, the last is shot down, but oh! A low Spitfire.

30mm goes BANG. Big time. So did the Spit.

Refuel/rearm; another strike inb.

Lo and behold; am at 29k; enemy P-47 at 36. Rest between that. At this time, things got really really boring. In an act of extreme boredom, I attack a buff from dead 6 o clock. The result is both me and the buff going down in a sea of flames. First time I am shot down  this day. Oh well.

Well, it was fun, but then the altitude got ridiculous. Actually, it was ridiculous to begin with.

Level A1!

You know why they were so happy? Because they had been inhaling all the supplies of GM 1, leaving none for your Me 109 to use!

Those were fun raids. I was up in the A14 area when the call came in that we needed to intercept - or else. Seems the evil Bishops had levelled our city. A successful HQ strike would be disasterous. I turned my trusty P-47 southwest and began WEP climb.

I arrived on scene with only 2 B-17s left and watched as they were ripped to shreads and trailed smoke earthward. No chance to help.

We all landed and prepared for the second attack wave.

It was a lot of fun. And we saved StSanta's porn

Knits, I'm glad you enjoyed it! We'll be glad to arrange another strike soon!

You did very well, during the time we did the attacks, only one bomber got through to deliver the bombs, resulting in you loosing enemy dots for some time.

<S!> Knits, and all valiant Bishcuits who participated!
