Oh,  no doubt Eagler.  I'm fully aware of that.  I learned a lot from my experience last year.  The best thing was how to deal with depression when I get it.  I haven't gotten depressed since december of last year, that was the end of a 5 year bout of it too!   I'm always on the look out for warning signs of addictive behavior in myself.  If I see one,  I make a change.   It works,  it really does :D

I haven't done any drugs since 1990, but I have been tempted.

Played golf with one of the corporate guys a couple weeks ago. We were having a great time, when he (he's 55) pulls out this pipe. He fired it up on the course and offered me some. I declined, but I was sorely tempted to see if it was still fun.

I used to smoke every day udie. Now I haven't seen a joint in 8 or so years. I don't know even anybody who smokes nowadays. or if they do I don't know it. I've actually gotten to the point where I think it's retarded to get "fugged up". Slowing up your brain for enjoyment, it seems like a completely stupid idea to me now. I'd rather be sharp at all times. But then again, I'm a much better person than all these stoners in this thread. Who knows, someday you might be like me udie. :)

Did I read that you were an LSD addict for like 25 years?

Well I certainly don't smoke like I used to.  Just a weekend thing now if I'm around and somebody sparks up.  I've heard your accent anyway,  noway I could ever compete with that! :D

Never touched weed in my life.  The most illegal substance that ever went into my body was alcohol (when I was underage).  And I still think the whole Chong thing is stupid, along with the laws that got him there.

I don't approve of marijuana at all, but I don't think it's worth my tax dollars to prosecute him and then house him for 9 months.

These are federal charges. The states are lining up with changes to drug laws, but the AG continues to stand firm and make arrests for federal crimes regardless of what the voters decide.

"Change the law" seems to be a gross oversimplification.

It's right up there with "elect the president."

They are federal charges because he was selling the stuff over the internet to people in other states.  If he'd stayed local they probably would have left him alone.

Those federal laws the AG is enforcing were written by the elected representatives of the voters, not by the AG.    Just because you don't agree with a law doesn't mean the law was passed without due democratic representation.

Change the law.  Don't tell the AG to ignore it, it's his job to enforce it.

He decides where and when to devote the resources to uphold the law. No way in heck he can catch everyone. So saying it's his job is a cop out too.

BTW Udie... pot is bad... just numbs your brain and makes you less than you should be. I should know, I will compare my drug background against anyone on theis board for shear stupidity.

Life is better without.

He definitely can't catch everyone.  So when a celebrity violates the law in a very public way, the AG nails him for it and all the lesser violators get the message.  He did his job, change the law.

Yeah, a few months ago(maybe a year or so), Chong was on a local station shilling his bongs, er, art pieces.  Hate to see it happen to him, cause I really do like him and have been known to burn myself, but he left himself wide open for it, and the law is both plain and very easy to circumvent.

You think that's silly, Ashcroft is now going after the porn industry.  A postal inspector seized a video from a company named "Extreme Associates" shipped to a wholesaler in western PA.  The owner was indicted on the vague federal obscenity law that requires the jurors in this conservative PA region to apply their idea of what an average person's "community standards" are with regards to prurient interest.  It is truly sad that Ashcroft has chosen to use the resources of the Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section to go after consenting adults rather than the real criminals like child pornographers, and indicative of exactly how warped his priorities for law enforcement are.
