Whats with all the vulching????
« on: November 22, 1999, 11:58:00 AM »
Man I know i am new to this sim but just getting off the runway is a chore at times. Trying to learn the sim and deal with the vulchers just trying to rack up easy kills is becoming kind of a squeak. Love the sim though I think its one of the best FM's I have flown and alot of my squad is starting to get into it also. But come on if you want kills get them the right way, out fly someone in the air not blast the crap out of them while they are sitting on the runway getting ready to take off. Maybe I am missing something and this is the way its supposed to be online but that doesnt seem very fun to me, anybody can strafe a runway but if that makes you feel like your good pilot then i guess continue.....

If your getting vulched then in all probability there`s an effort to take that base. Otherwise the acks would take care of the vulchers. Just move to a different field and then go vulch the vulchers. Never take off from a capped field!

TGarner;

Vulching is a perfectly sound method for capping a field, and often used.  If you do get up from a capped field, you are pretty much a sitting duck anyway.  One contingent of cappers will be suppressing hostile takeoffs, another might be chasing down the runners.

If you do decide to takeoff from a capped base I would suggest one that is on a mountain top.

I generally take off from capped fields "Only for the Fun of it", and rarely.

I also enjoy strafing birds on the runway trying to take off.

Something else to keep in mind TGarner pilots vulching a field are quite often low on "e" and make easy targets if you come in with some alt.

Only exception to this would be if Villa is vulching, he has energy management down pat.

The subject for this thread should be: "Whats with all the people taking off _repeatedly_ from a vulched field????". Why will you take off from a field that has enemy fighters directly above you? I know I am not very good at this game, but I can't think of a any combination of maneuvers that would give me chance to kill them given the opposition is half good.

So ya'll who keep taking off from vulched fields, please share the secret uberACM moves with the rest of us?
