Are you having VOX problems?
« on: September 14, 2003, 09:08:37 AM »
For several months now I've been having sporadic VOX problems - it just cuts out. Sometimes alt tabbing out aand back into the game fixes it; sometimes it doesn't. The problem seems to be pandemic as well.

Is this a bug? Sure seems to be. If so, could some kind soul at HTC look into it? I know the burners are on full so as to get AH2 out on schedule but losing VOX in the heat of a pitched battle is a real bummer.

Many in my squad and me included have been having Voxx problems.

Like you Alt-tab out sometimes does it  sometimes it just pops back on by itself. Most times the only way to get it going is to exit game and relog back in.

I went into DXDiag as set my sound accel to basic and have only had one drop out of Vox since then.

Yes!  For me it started about a month ago.  Up until then I was rock solid.  However, a number of my squadies have had sporatic vox problems for 6 months or more.

Our squad uses a backup vox elment. http://www.teamspeak.org basicly we keep it on stand by incase one of us loses vox. If we are doing a squad op, it allows us to keep with the mission and still keep comm working untill one us can re-logg to fix the vox problem. My teamspeak server is 45$ a month, but there are free servers for you to use.

Hmm... Teamspeak will work you just have to mess with the settings, I will talk to my buddy that handles all that. I will get back to you on the settings that work.

Everyone I know has sporadic outages of VOX.

There seems to be no ryme or reason to it, though it seems to happen a little more often on the larger maps.

Only way to fix is to relog.

Haven't had vox problems in about a year. I would venture the outages are route related and not server related.

When I had problems a year ago, I found Teamsound to be the best solution. Free, extraordinary clarity (better than telephone quality even for dial-up connections across the globe), anyone can host, multiple configurations available to set up individual flight channels for a squad...

Naturally, your in-game vox transmission doesn't work, but that isn't always bad :)

Vox problems often and when it happens I type in "hey did ya'll just loose vox?" and get many "yes" replies.

It sets in after you have been online for a time - never occurs right away.  It is always cured by simply leaving the arena (just the arena no need to leave the game) and re-entering.

I *think* it is more prevalent when the arena is very full but this is only my perception,  I of course have not been keeping a record.

That's what I thought too...or that it was a sound card issue. Upon discovering its prevelance amongst squadmates and many other players, I'm leaning towards it being an in-game bug. I'll give Skuzzy a buzz today and report back.

Very seldom happens to me, however when it does a quick alt tab to desktop & back ussually fixes it.

Ussually I try retuneing v channel first, to 101, then back. Then if that doesn't work alt tab. Rare indeed is the case where I have to relog/reboot.
