Muck, you obviously need this "racism" thing explained.  It is not racism when members of the same race/ethnic group refer to themselves with words that would otherwise be viewed as offensive.  Just as rap stars can call each other the "N" word, Irish folks can make Irish drunk jokes.

And since Animal is obviously Irish, he is taking advantage of his rare opportunity to make an ethnic slur without having the ACLU sue him.  You seem to have missed this point however, and you are now branded a dirty hippie.

To demonstrate, I will also use my ethnic right to make Irish jokes to Animal, who is of course a fellow Irishman.

Hi Animal, you drunken potato-eating cracker-ass mick.

It was a joke, GScholz.  :)

And I know what you're saying.  I've argued your point myself before.  However, it seems that "racism" is becoming the all-encompassing term for any type of background-based discrimination, be it based on ethnic, racial, economic, national, or other similar factors.

I'm not saying it's correct, but it seems to be the way it's going.  It's a lot simpler for people to scream "Racist" than "ethnicist" or "nationalist" when they're trying to get a nice out-of-court monetary settlement from someone with deep pockets.

You are correct, but many people just don't seem to know or care about the distinction.  I guess I've just been assimilated.  ;)

Well said.

And thanks Curval, that's the word I've been looking for.

Are they any less Irish then their white countrymen?

Ummm, yes, they are a whole heck of alot less Irish!  Some families have been in Ireland for thousands of years.
