. It snapped the first picture of an asteroid with a moon. And in 1994, a year before it began orbiting Jupiter, it witnessed the biggest explosion ever recorded on a planetary body, a comet that struck Jupiter with hundreds of times the explosive force of the world's nuclear arsenals.


Anyone know if the pictures of this impact are avalible anyhere???

Where would the pictures come from?  The secret United States Space Navy battlecruiser Ticonderoga?  Or the deep space research facility on Io where scientists are analyzing alien DNA strands recovered in the deserts of Iraq?

Sorry, I wasn't clear.

I wasn't looking for pictures of the galileo impact.  Was looking for pictures of the astroid impact that I quoted from the article.

Yes, I'm actually several days ahead of everyone else in time.  That would explain why I don't get shot down in the MA.  I'm not actually where you think I am :D

In the grand scheme of things.. the pictures weren't that much to look at.  It's just a tiny plume coming out of a gaseous planet.  Of course, the fact that you could see it happen speaks volumes for the enormity of the impact...

I know the first PentiumPro supercomputer modeled the impact and it was a virtual match to the photos taken.  I'll see if I can dig them up.
