Nother Bad Idear From Downtown.

Reading Ish's tread, and such, reading other threads and such got me thinking.

Now?

and Based on WB as an example.

No one flies the HA in WB, certainly not enough folks to warrant keeping a seperate server up and running 24/7.  I would fly the HA but whenever I log in, no one is there.

One of the Big Gripes is all the squad/pilots/whatever paying $2.00 and hour to have a squad meeting in the tower.

NOW I think, how would I fix this.

Hitech.

A chat applet.

Give each country a secure open chat channel, that you can log into prior to flying.

Further, as the Player and Squadron Base Builds, allow for the Creation of Secure Squadron CHAT rooms.

Example.

I'm a Rook and I feel like taking a buff up.  I check in the Rook Chat Room before taking off and see if anyone else wants to go on a buff raid.  We set up our weapons load, we decide how much fuel, we get gunner volunteers, Etc.  Then we log to the Game/Sim and setup our Aircraft.  WHen we are ready to roll, we get on the radio and announce as much.

Have a AH Chat Room.
Rook Chat Room
Knigits Chat Room
and a Bishops, well you get the idea.

Squads could hold meeting in their squad chat room prior to launching for their mission.

Rook Squadrons could Challenge Bishop or Knight squadrons to meet in the closer to realism arena.

You could have Squadron UBBs and allow them to post announcements, etc.

Of course I am willing to wait.

And get Mt. Dew, Microsoft, Dell, Ruffles, and Thrustmast to run their adds in the Chat rooms.

(We don't need no stinking Nike Swooshes.)

Of course, this isn't as much a problem now that we know that it will be flat rate.

Meant to say that, but would also allows other to have more stable conversations with out the text buffers being filled with kill messages.

Downtown if you had chatrooms would that leave out people inflight?

Why not just do what you can do in WB?

Just say on your country channel:

"I need escorts for a buff run. Anyone interested tune channel 17."

That would also let people inflight wait overhead the field or meet you on the route.

Downtown;

Well we do have a squad channel and so does WB, WB also has both cross country and country privite type chat rooms. Along with tunable channels of each type.

And you are starting from the wrong assumption that somthing should be done to push more people into a historical type arena because thats where you want to play. If people prefer not to play why push them there?

 you are putting it wrong. I do not fly in HA not because I do not want to but because I do not find enugh people there.
 A tool/scheme that would enable people to coordinate their activity in HA would be very welcome. Not a chat room of course. People do not stay in the chat room waiting for the new players.

One of the big problems with the WB HopeforAction arena is the difficulty finding a fight.  If AH implements AW style "sector counters", that will make it much easier to find the enemy.

To Janne Hakala,

WB = Wide Band
WB = Wide Butt
WB = Whoa Baby
WB = Warner Brothers (movie makers)
WB = Wright Brothers (inventors)
WB = Weather Broadcast
WB = Why Bother

Hey, this could be a thread all to itself
