Greetings Mein Herren,
Basically General Seagoon's strategic plan turned out to be a shambolic disaster.
The Allies did NOT take the "bait" and attempt to engage the AKs in their non-NOE run directly to the Grunt Training center. Consequently the AKs were able to actually BOMB the primary objective, straight out. Meanwhile, the RAF were able to successfully attack our radar site via a sneaky sweep in from the west that went around our two sweep squadrons which were curving in over the channel from a7 and a10. Our only cap squadrons the Flying Zoo and VFA-136 had only managed to muster a grand total of 4 planes, so the main RAF target was essentially unguarded and they trashed it. FZ and VFA were able to down and intercept the first Mossies but were crushed by the terrible weight of Spit IX's that followed them.
The saving grace of the frame turned out to be the peerless LW pilots who were able to knock down the dreaded RAF at a prodigious rate, despite being caught flat-footed, and out-planed. [Herr Seagoon was foolishly expecting Spit V's, Hurri 2s and Bostons again and his plan worked on that principle since we only had G2s and A5s to counter them.] Well done gentlemen, you certainly earned your case of Burgundy this time!
Special mention in dispatches goes to the following Squadrons:
The AKs who managed to make it to their initial target, badly damage it, and complete the secondary mission of taking out the gun emplacements.
The MAW who willingly accepted a late frame desperation mission to restrike the grunt training facility and successfully completed it in addition to shooting 12 aircraft.
The 56th Fighter group, who accepted the job of escorting the MAW to their target, performed their job well, ably tackled the remaining CAP and shot down 13 aircraft total.
Meanwhile in other news:
Following his performance in the recent channel engagement, Generalleutnant Seagoon has been promoted to the command of special punishment squadron KG9.5 on the East Front. It is said that the general will be personally testing a new wunderweapon flying bomb and has "volunteered" to go without the customary parachute to save on precious silk. Viel Gluck Herr Seagoon!
