Problem booting up Aces High
« on: September 21, 2003, 11:46:32 PM »
I've been AWOL for about two months. My hard drive crashed and I had to get a new one.  I downloaded AH today , but when I
try to run the program I get an error messege

Initialzation failed with - 5
main SN_FAILED-2

The only thing I can think of is my video card which is the same as I've always used, an ASUS AGP- V7700 (D)

I had to download drivers for the ASUS AGP- V7700 (D). Since this computer was built for me by a friend, and the drivers didnt make it into the package. Should I try differnt drivers?  Before the crash the card was running some kind of NVIDA GE-Force 2 drivers. I always assumed thats what the card was until I removed it. I havent flown in two months if I dont get to fly real soon , my dogs a goner!! Oh yeah I did try the tip of removing the video7.cfg file as suggested on the AH website, but still had the same problem.

Thanks

Its the directx sound, card or onboard, not initializing in AH.  Re-install DirectX first then run DirectX diagnostics (use run box in start menu and type "dxdiag" ).  Check sound section in diagnostics for correct operation on test and most important reduce the sound hardware acceleration there at least one notch left. You can check that directX video aceleration is also correctly working there.

Make sure you are connected to the Internet properly before initializing AH startup.

Thanks for the tips. I updated to directx 9b, for Windows 98. That didnt help. I am going to take AH off and re-install, I'm also updating my sound drivers to see if that helps too.
Thanks guys
