Minus, would you respect people that imply what you are, that these stories are roadkill, if they said it about the book and stories written by Sakai, Galland, Sakaida or Heinz Knoke to name just FOUR Axis pilots who lived and wrote later?

Wow I am surprised at the animosity shown by a few...well I am not surprised by minus ;) anyone that has been in AH with minus knows this is just...minus ;)

But the portion  you shared silat, great read!! I love that stuff. I have read Zemke's, Mahurins, Johnsons, Gallands, G Johnsons, and now I must get this one too!

S!

No one who was born in the last 30 years will ever really know or understand what it was like to be there.

Either to be in the shoes of the young men from the Allied side or the German.  These 19-25 year old kids.

The largest air battles in the history of warfare were fought then, with a violence and fury which has never been seen since.

The bravery and determination shown by both sides, whether misguided on the German side or not, has to be admired.

As someone who lives in North America, in a democracy, I am in permanent debt to those U.S., British, Canadian, Polish, French, Czech, etc. pilots who stood up and were willing to sacrifice all to save the world from a madman who had hoodwinked the people of a brave nation into doing his perverted bidding.

SALUTE TO THOSE WHO DIED AND THOSE WHO FOUGHT!

Silat - As ammo mentioned in his list, Robert Johnson's book (Thunderbolt!) is a really wonderful book - if you liked Anderson's, check out Johnson's - you can get it in a reprint from amazon.

I gotta get some of these books, that was really interesting, although I noticed he omitted shatting himself while looking back in the stall flight..heh.

With hundreds of players in AH, I'm surprised there isn't some sort of book trading, although I suppose guys collect them.

I'd buy some if I thought you could trade after you read them.

Rgr Kratzer. Bob Johnson's book "thunderbolt!" is a real fine read. Everyone in hbere I believe would enjoy his perspective. If you like that one, you really must find Hub Zemke's book "Zemke's Wolfpack". It is awesome. The rest of the books in the list is good too. I am currently reading another book "A Flying Tigers Diary" by Charles Bond. Pretty good read. It covers the AVG from before December 41 all the way till the commisions of the remaining FT's (pilots) into the US armed forces.

For anyone who is looking for books - we've got a section on our site of books we've read with a little blurb about each of them. A lot of them aren't about flying, but there is some good stuff in there nonetheless.
