What I am reading here is that we have different levels of freedom. Yenny coming to the west noticed how much freedom we have yet if you look hard enough the old system of pay offs is still alive and well here in the west. We don't want to admit it but it is. Government has become corrupted by the need to get elected and receiving donations from special interest groups. These groups intern expect some sort of favor in the future. (wouldn't you if you gave millions, I know I would)

I know what freedom is, by listening to my grandmother that was thrown into a workcamp (Ravensbruck) in WWII because she got busted smuggling letters out from captured RAF pilots in captivity.
