CV takeoff start position bug?
« on: October 02, 2003, 03:15:02 PM »
Couple days ago I go to take off from a carrier and I start closer to the front than is usual.  You'd expect to see the aft part of the superstructure out your window to the right--I saw the forward turrets.

I tried other carriers then active and got the usual start position on them, then went back to the problem CV and got the too-far-forward position.

Tried changing planes, restarting, rebooting, sacrificing chickens, etc.  Nothing helped.

It wasn't so far forward that taking off was completely imposssible -- zekes and unladen seafires were no trouble.  But I couldn't take off with any ord, and I usually have no trouble launching a bombs & rockets hellcat with 75% fuel.

Anyone ever seen this before?  Anyone know of a fix?

This thread should probably be posted in the "Bug Report" forum.

I am pretty sure that the bug occurs at CV35.

and if you try to spawn a TBM you lose your right wingtip because you spawn with part of it in the ship. Any movement and *snap-crack*

I just roll backwards ont this CV b4 take-off

How do you roll backwards?  I tried turning around and taxiing toward the rear (or just taking off backwards) but couldn't get turned around without crashing.  Is there a way to move in reverse?

Drop your flaps all the way, release the brakes, and ever so slightly inch the throttle forward.  There's a sweet spot in there where the wind from the CV's forward velocity will blow you backward.

If you start to creep forward, too much throttle.  If you're not moving at all, not enough throttle.

It takes some practice to find the sweet spot.

Very handy for getting heavy hogs off the CV deck.

Push throttle up to about 2200 rpms for most planes...  and roll backwards.... just don't forget that if cv is turning and autopilot is still engaged that you will be ded soon so keep an eye on that.

Hope this helps
