Cure for boredom?

Janjan, I understand your feelings completely.
I've been playing this game for about a month now, and I was unbelievably jazzed about it when I first discovered it, blathering on about it to my friends like a bedwetting schoolboy. I was playing it pretty well every day, logging lots of hours, and losing lots o zzz's. I was most interested in winning bases, and fighting the good fight, taking one for the team. And it has been incredibly fun.

But, man, can you burn-out fast!! If you are a strat player, it doesn't take long before the base-taking starts to lose significance, when you usually aren't around to see the reset, and share the glory.Beyond the isolated satisfaction of taking the base,it really dosen't mean squat.Especially when you're not ever sure the other side even cares if you won it, and just wants to furball.  I'm also not fond of the "Us vs. Them vs. Them" gameplay. A 3-sided war? Leave that crap to the RTS folks. If I wanted to play Risk I'd play Risk(at least in risk you can form alliances and quickly turn it into a 2-sided war). If you want to keep people like me around as paying customers, give us an MA that sets significant long-term goals for strat players to achieve. Otherwise, i don't care how accurate the flight models are, it's still Quake in the air.

I know that i'm doing some serious squeaking here, but realize that I do love everything else about AH (especially how $@*&$% HARD it is), and i think it kicks arnold. But right now i'm viewing it like a beautiful woman with whom you have absolutely nothing in common: you can't help but be in love with her, but in some deep, dark place you know it isn't going to work out

Oh well. I guess I'll keep looking for a good long-term relationship. You know, she doesn't have to be gorgeous, but she has to have the brains to keep you interested. Hmmm... anyone heard of an upcoming game that might fit the bill?   'Til then I guess I'll drop by AH and see if i can't rekindle the flame.... OOps, gotta visit the pharmacy first

Ive been doing this stuff for years and Im bored to death!  I just cant seem to get it out of my system.

In the final analysis, most people do this hot and heavy for a year or two then move on to other interests.  A few of us just cant get away.
