Just watched a special on the History channel about the WW2 squadron who landed in Greenland. The show ended with the flight of a fully restored P-38 making it's first flight.

If you have seen it, great, but if not you should. I had read about this somewhere but never really looked into it until today. They have a website http://www.thelostsquadron.com that is worth a look.

I hope to attend the next airshow, been working too much lately anyway. Any pics will be posted.

I read the book a few years ago.  Great read.  Glad to see they got the old girl airworthy again.  Too bad about the other planes being ground up into bits and pieces by the glacier, though. :(

Glacier Girl’s first airshow was here at Columbia Regional Airport, Columbia, Missouri. She received her Airworthiness Certificate the morning of May 23rd, 2003. Later that day she flew in escorted by a P-51, F4U, F6F and a P-40. That was a sight I’ll never forget. During the Salute to Veterans Airshow (http://www.salute.org), she was winging with an A-10.

Below are a few photos I loaded on the server. I have about 70 more hi-res photos I’ll add when things slow down this winter.
