WHOOOAAAA!!

What does wing/stab/vator/rudder damage do? Decreased control or decreased structural limits? Or both? I surely understand what happens if they're destroyed

How about hydraulic leak... does it affect anything else but landing gear and flaps on some planes?

So there is no coolant leak right?

Thanks

Sounds pretty basic to me. Disappointing.

I lack several factors, such as:
individual guns
coolant leaks
radio
oxygen
supercharger
cylinder(s)
gunsight
control panel
throttle/mixture lever

Dunno how official your list is Glars, but it seems to indicate an incremental hitmap damage model rather than one which computes bullet trajectory through the aircraft.

Bmbm it's a list as of now but who knows what's inside HT's head that has yet to see the light of day?

There'll be plenty of beta releases to see what does/doesn't work.

I'm kind of intrigued to see the 'pilot wounded' one in action.

I'll be looking for a sharpshooter to give me a John-Wayne-just-a-flesh-wound-in-the-left-shoulder so I can experience that one I guess.

Parachute failure is there if you don't remember to open it as most of us forgot to do the first few times

Oh and if you do remember to open the chute and you make it down safely pray you're not too far from base cos it's a long walk home with no ground vehicles in there yet.

Fighter Squadron manages to do damage per polygon which is nice so that a certain amount of damage causes structural failure. This mean syou can lose wingtips, half a tailplane etc. and the flight model is adjusted accordingly. Obviously there is also special code for engine & gunners & undercarriage etc.  Last night I landed a JU88 badly while in a chase view and watched one wheel break away and bounce along the runway beside me. after sliding to a halt with bent props etc I was amused then sit and watch the wheel making ever decreasing circles until coming to rest with a realistic wobble. Now that is damage modelling!

Yup, it is.

Never going to see that in an on-line game in the near future though!

That wheel and its relative position would have to be transmitted to everyone within a certain distance.  Bandwidth issues are problematic enough without taking into account items that are only for the benefit of the singular player.

If it could be done on the player's FE only it would be a different story, but then other problems arise.

Cheers,

Errr...Fighter Squadron IS an online game. Bouncing wheels and fluttering debris are modelled offline and online though obviously it has to affect framerates. I must say I have not noticed any effects but I suppuse if the game can handle 16 players it must have enough capacity for the more usual 8 players plus debris. A fluttering wing must take less CPU than an AI controlled fighter dogfighting.
