Next Sunday Squad Ops
« on: October 14, 2003, 11:06:40 AM »
Well you guys are at frame 2 of V1 hunters .. so time for me to start thinking about the Squad Ops following it.

You guys have anywhere particular you want to fly? Theatre, time frame, etc.

I have been kicking around an idea of France at the beginning of the war but not sure can match up the frame set.

Spit I
Hurricane I
Hawk75 (P40B?)
Battle? (?SBD?)
Blenheim (????)

BF109E
JU87
German bomber (???)

Looks like too many gaps as much as I would like to do it. Unless you guys have ideas.

Or any idea on something else you would like to fight?

how about channel wars? 1941-42?

Spit V
bostons
P40E
p40B
Hurricane mk2

109f4
110
ju88
ju87

strike coast target, and fleets

It's spring of 1941 and every day RAF sends more and more planes over France. To draw Luftwaffe into the air small but heavily escorted groups of bombers fly strikes on strategic targets within French coast hoping to draw Luftwaffe into the air. Such missions are called "Circus". At the same time slow but heavily armed Hurricane MkII fighter bombers fly low altidtude strafing missions on enemy airfields. This battle of attrition will decide the future balance of the air war in the West.

Not bad .. you think anyone on the allied side would have a problem with the P40E, P40B, or Hurri II? Not sure how they stack up versus the 109F4. Although I have flown the Hurri IIC and know if the squad flies with the right tactics they can hold their own .. tough but they can do it.

I think the P40E might be good too. But not sure out the P40B.

p40b was only as example

main idea is fighters vs fighters/jabos 9hurri mkIIC

Allies start attacking small axis targets in france and belgium
axis use fighters to defend it;)

honestly i not see a reason to use bombes, maybe minor usage

its can looks like one big furball, but can be fun;)

so.

allies launch airstikes against small targets  (VH, depots)

in RL it was something like 8 bombers and 100 fighters cover ;-)
allies should establish airs supremacy in area, axis should try to destroy many fighters as they can (special jabos)

Points will be counted "how many survive" +  numbers of kills, and not depends from "destroy". Its enough target will be hit and damage. (objectiv to done)

for example
frame 1
allies must hit  depot at X,X  and (or) VH at Y,Y
Its no matter what target will be destroyed on that location (fuel, ack, buildings). Importand is it must be hit by bomb (CM's can chk that easy)

planeset:
allies
spit mkV (must be used)
hurricane mk2 (must be used)
p40D (can be used but not must)
Bostons (can be used but not must)

Axis
bf109f (must be used)
bf110 early version (must be usesd in numbers not less then 6, or something like that)

balance numbers is 55:45 or 60:40 for allies

special rules
Fuel multi 1
Axis cannot carry DT
One life,
if you ditch outside airfield you cannot get another plane
New plane only if you dich on the runnway your mother airfield.
If you ditch in any other airfield you are out from frame
Bailed is out of game.

frame time 2 hours +30 min for rtb, all planes who not back in time are counted as lost.
Succesfull landing only when you land on your home airfield

no alt limit ;-)

scoring:

Main objective
- hit designated target, if not frame is counted as draft and overall score depends from fighters fights
- plane rtb 1 point
- plane landed not on home airfield 0,5 points
- plane ditched/bailed on friendly territory (pilot rescued) 0.25 point
- plane lost over enemy territory (captured message) "-1 point"
- vanished, discoed after T+30 "-1" point
- enemy planes destroyed +1 point

im not too good with scoring , so maybe somone catch idea and prepare something better

We have done Coral Sea, worked just fine.

I think CAP is set at 2 hrs Ramzey, and there are no P-40s operating in Britain (and never were), but other than that it looks good to me.

Fuel mod set to 1.0 unless you want a short frame, Spit V  has no DT.

I am fine with dropping the P40 .. probably just a hold over from my thoughts of using it as a replacement for the Hawk75 in the battle of france.

So basically cross channel circus and rodeo operations. With possibly the Axis attacking intercoastal shipping along british coast in 1941.

Spit V
Hurricane IIC
Bostons

BF109F4

Was the 190A5 available then? Also possibly at least one of the 110 versions and the JU87. Is the JU88 out of the time line or too much for Spit Vs and Hurricanes IICs to handle?

Things starting to form up .. will get to work on it seriously this weekend.

ju88 with laser guns mounted never was "easy" target ;)

Ghostdancer, small missunderstanding
allies attack
axis only defend

thats why i propose split 55:45 or 40:60 % with advence for allies
and with minor use or bombers

190a5 is more late plane then early

and to add something week i put bf110 here, just to not see only nunch of 109s. Its something hard to fly for axis too ;) we can think about som 109g2 ans "bonus" for axis, but definitly not 190's

All that to make non stress objectives for frame and a lot of fighting in fighters

regards
