Al Davis sued for mismanagement and fraud

Shortly after the Super Bowl, the Raiders sued the Buccaneers to try and have them stop using the Bucs pirate flag logo on their helmets.  The Raiders contended that the pirate emblem too closely resembled the Raider "wincing pirate" emblem and that the pewter color uniform helmet and pants were too similar to the Raider silver color uniform helmet and pants.

So of course the local sports talk radio shows had a field day with it.

One of the sports show hosts called the Oakland Raiders switchboard.  The conversation went something like:

Raiders: "Hello, Oakland Raiders."

Host: "Is this the Tampa Bay Buccaneers? I'd like to purchase some season tickets, please."

Raiders: "I'm sorry, sir.  This is the Oakland Raiders office."

Host: "Oakland Raiders?  I thought I was calling the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.  I'm sorry to have troubled you.  I feel so foolish."

Raiders: "That's ok."

Host: "I bet you guys get these types of calls all the time."

Raiders: "Not really.  You're the first one."

The host then closed the segment with "Get this tape over to the Glazers! Pronto! This could be Defense Exhibit A! Nobody has confused the Raiders and the Bucs!"

The lawsuit never went anywhere. :lol

You know, I can't help but wonder if the Raiders were winning, would the shareowners be suing...
