This is actually a false statement. Yes he was feeding on human wastefullness and yes maybe he was "used to humans" But you could never kill one with a tennis racket durring hunting season. Dove are smart freakin animals. They KNOW when hunting season starts. I watch it every year durring the first week of September. Before that dove will fly at about 10ft off the ground and not dodge people at all. You'll see them in trees and on power lines and you can walk up and get close to them. Come hunting season though they all start flying at 200+ ft and will dodge around a human from 500 yds away if they see you, and they have very good vision. Come the first week in November and they'll go back to not worrying about humans.

They know what's going on....
