« on: October 15, 2003, 06:49:16 PM »
ok tonight i want to buy a video card....

im out of touch and posted a few weeks ago. those are no longer available.

i lean towards GeForce

budget $150-$225

other than neweeg and spartan where do you all recommend to go thats reliable and trustworthy?

i could be swayed to get an ATI possibly.... but after the driver problems i had 2 years ago i almost want nothing to do with them.

for geforce what manufactuer?

response appreciated. looking to buy tonight or tomorrow.

If you want NVidia, then the GF4Ti4600 would be a good choice.

what about a 4200 or a 4800?

chk this out:

http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduct.asp?DEPA=&bop=and&submit=advance&Catalog=48&MFG=1487&Order=priceD

there's a 4200 for $143

there's a 4800SE for $139

whats the 64/128mb thingy mean? is it 64 or 128? (for the 4800)

THis: http://www.msicomputer.com/product/vga/vga_detail.asp?model=G4TI4600-TD8X for $179

This: http://www.asus.com/products/vga/v9480tvd/overview.htm# for $161

<> and TY for all your help. i just have been out of date with whats going on last year and want to buy something reputable.

From what i've seen in the bug reports so far TI 4200 is outperforming everything else.

4200 is fine.  64MB version, as the 128MB version uses slower RAM.

Oh,.don't go by the performance stats in the AH2 bug forum.  The game is not ready to be evaluated at that level.  It's a BETA.
