Problem with video settings
« on: October 17, 2003, 01:16:59 PM »
AHII would not run on my system under 16-bit color; it keeps bombing, with an error message (oops, can't remember what it said:eek: ).  I tried 1024x768 and got terrible fps (6-9).  On a lower resolution of 800x600, fps was play-able, running from 25-50 fps.  However, mussle blasts were very blocky at lower rez, being big rectangles.  The tracer spirals looked okay, though.

Minor thing, but the M3 I tried to drive kept exploding as I drove through the hanger door opening.  Also, driving too close to hovering tree foliage causes my M3 to flip over and detonate.

I kept having part of the instrument panel in a/c blocked out by some type of video artifact.  Also, everytime I moved the clipboard to the side of the screen and then hid it, it would pop back up in the senter of the screen when I brought it back up.

Noticed two big black triangles in the terrain that would flicker on and off.  I noticed them to the left and right at the edge of where the horizon haze appears.

Flight model seems okay, though a bit touchier than before when responding to pitch inputs.  P51 was very touchy, though the Spit didn't seemed almost immune to hard pulls on the stick.  Noticed considerably more torque on take-off.  I had to be a bit more gradual in throttle-up, or my nose would swing left regardless of rudder inputs.

That's it for now; I only spent about 30 minutes last night in my first try.  I'll post more when I have more time with it.  I will say that, from the air, the new look is more immersive than before, IMNSHO.

My system:
Dell P4, 2.8MHz, 512Mb memory, 64Mb Gforce-4, Windows XP Pro, cable modem.

Try the 45.23 omega drivers  I get 50 to 150 fps (277 looking straight up) you can overclock your gpu 10% but no more & dont overclock vid ram.
note.... you will need to switch vertical sync on for AH1 but off for AH2.
Also every1 seems to get best fps at 1600x1200x32x75
