new system, need tweek help plz//
« on: October 21, 2003, 04:50:34 PM »
Just put together a new system and everything is rolling along smoothly, except AH2.  I get a rock solid 70 fps in AH1 nearly all of the time.  I did see the fps drop to 55 at one point.  I think it was while my system was digesting the initial entry ino the MA.
But AH2 has a flashing red hue about it, and the frames, although usually around 55 dive into the teens for no apparent reasons.
Anyway, would like to know some safe overclock hints and BIOS settings that i need.  I have the BIOS defaulted to fail safe.

my only drawback is a 350 PS.
  thnx

Ok you might want to get a larger PSU like atleast 430w.
I have a 430w and im moving up to a 550w.

You're MB is power hungry LOL.
Does you're vid card plug into the PSU with molex?
If so theres another reason to move up to bigger PSU.

I will try and take screen shots of my bios.
You might get a rough idea of where to set things .
but you will need to tone it down abit :D

In you're BIOS the first screen you come to you have to option to change you're CPU mgz Default in you're case iis 2600.
Click on it and you will have choice of user difined.
You can then put in the numbers of you're choice.
I suggest you do this in small incriments.

Then make sure you're boot strap is set to 800
Also make darn sure you're agp and pci is set to FIXED(do not skip this) if you over clock you're agp you could screw up your vid card and agp slot.

then go down to vdimm voltage.
change to user difined and set it to 2.8
For CPU voltage leave it alone for now.
The lower you leave this the better for your're CPU(lease heat)

HIT Esc

Now go to where you're ram settings are.
At the top you will se that it says Spd

change that to manuel
and leave the rest alone on top.

move down to bottom.

Leave all on auto exept the bottom two change them to disabled

HIT F10 Y enter

Hope fully if you did not over clock too much you will boot up fine.

You need to download CPU-Z you can use it to see you're CPU and FSB and mem freks.

Remember small steps and monitor you're temps.
If you're system hangs or does somthing silly just clear CMOS.
 and start over again.

Worst case you will have to remove battery but I have yet to do this with this MB.

Good luck.

Oh one more thing I never OC my vid card when Oc my system but thats just me.
