So, when Solomon suggested that the two women cut the baby in half, did he mean north and south, so that each woman had a symetrical half a baby, or east and west so that one had the head, and the other the feet?

The only fair way would be in a blender, med-high setting, so that each got an exactly equal share.

The idea of two women arguing about how to best divide the child had set this sublime imagry in my mind. But the blender just blows it away lol.
