From what I read it seems some don't quite realize what a beta test is. It doesn't have to be a test of the complete product. It can be a test of just one part of it, like the flight model. In most cases companies don't offer open beta test of incomplete products to avoid giving customers a false impression, or disclosing what they are doing to the competition. But HTC is providing us the opportunity to participate in the beta tests of the future components of AH2. It's an advantage for them to weed out the bug-a-boos early and gives us a fun distraction. You folks shouldn't make such a big deal out of things that haven't happened yet.
For example, HTC had to assemble a package we can use to fly a plane and see the arena. But they haven't yet developed the hanger part. So they just slapped together some graphics and hyperlinks to give us the basic function. It is beyond silly to criticize the hanger. Likewise the Officers Club and other components.
Only HTC can decide what is needed in testing and when they need it. So they told us specifically what we should look for, and what not to worry ourselves about yet. The fact that there are no explosions is quite likely that they haven't finished the damage model yet. The fact that the auto-pilot doesn't keep things rock solid may be due to fine tuning that they must do later. The fact that field ack doesn't work might simply be due to them having it off to start with so players can more easily fly around and check things out.
My point is for all of us to do the tests and provide the input they ask for instead of posting long silly threads about how porked AH2 is. I'm afraid if we don't do this and stop making HTC's work miserable, they will cut us off from beta testing and accept a lower quality product in preference of getting the thing done anytime soon.
Participating in the beta test is and option, yanno.... either do as they say and try to help, or don't participate at all.
