Was a bit reactionary perhaps ?

English is not my native language, but I feel quite comfortable expressing myself and complex ideas with it. I don't think Luccul's comments were made in the context that they seem.

I would like to see the Brits & Americans try to explain their  ideas and frustrations in Polish or German. Theres much to be said about being a native speaker of the language used on the board and being able to express complex ideas involving individuals with such subtleties that you wouldn't offend anybody.

I think the CM team should display a bit more patience with the international players, after all, the "old world" (i.e. Europe and the neighboring areas) cultures are much more varied in how they express themselves then what you see, and may be used to in N. America. Perhaps even some "old" grudges siffle out now and then...

In any case, I understand this is not my board, its HTC's, but it saddens me to see a post locked down like you see in the general discussion forum. The folks who fly these events come from well organised squads, most being respectable. Hardly the ego maniacs that post inflamatory crap on the other forum that warrants a lockdown.

Please re-read the entire thread; do you honestly think that anything useful was coming out of it?

I thought it was becoming unhelpful and emailed Skuzzy asking him to lock it. Skuzzy apparently agreed with me as you can see.

It is clear to me that Lucull was unprepared to engage in a meaningful discussion, he refused to respond to my post for instance.

The thing that really irritates me is that any misgivings about the SSO could and should have been brought up in the original side posting. I had a look at that thread last night, and guess what? No one said that they thought the design was rubbish and would be unplayable! (and to be quite honest that is what I am getting from 308)

Another point, at no time during this SSO have I received any email about the SSO from anyone, other than to clarify points in the orders or ask if I know the CO email address. There were zero complaints, and that includes up to the moment I posted this reply. In fact I never received a complaint in all the time I have been doing SSO.

I think that most people who play SSO only visit the SSO BBS when they have a complaint to make, I see this time and again when people ask questions clearly answered in posts that I make. Now I suppose that it is fruitless to expect everyone to read the board, but I kind of hoped that most players would be interested in what they are going to be doing for the next three weeks.

You and several others suggested that they would like the alt limit done away with but as I said then I will go with the majority view, in this case the silent majority won. For instance the JBs did not bother posting at all.

Squads not posting on the side selection post is not unusual, despite me emailing all CO when I put up the post. In fact it is not unusual for me to not have any contact with the frame COs until after they receive the orders, usually two or three days after I email them.

Now it is clear that a handful of players hate the alt limit, and so I am back to the drawing board with that one

Other than that there was no other issues brought up that I can control.

So we are unfortunately back to the situation that the vocal minority are dictating the direction of my work. Welcome to the mad house.

Slow down folks.

It may not have been lucull's intent to create an inflammatory thread, nor he may not have meant to sound like he was making personal attacks.

English, as a second language, is pretty difficult to learn, much less master.  That always must be taken into consideration in dealing with our international community.

It is very easy to sound offensive using the English language and not even be aware you are doing it.  Whether lucull intended to sound desparaging or not, he did.  This causes people to become defensive and thus severely mitigating the intent of the discussion.

When a thread reaches that point, it is best to stop it and hopefully everyone involved will take a step back and, if needed, take another stab at it, using a different tact.
