I am not fighting for anything. I am sitting here at my computer, typing using less profanity on this forum than most favoring the current filter have.
What I believe is that when you attempt to weed out the bad eliments, you risk drawing the line at the wrong point.
Who is to determine what bad behavior is? What committee is going to sit down and decide this for us? Then how is this going to be imposed on the arena?
This whole thing smacks of a book-burning session. A bunch of closed-minded people doing what's right for their children and society. Of course, they believe they are so right that any argument against them is evil and automatically makes the person a sinner.
The majority isn't always right. They just voted and decided they were.
AKDejaVu
Wow. DejaVu, I have nothing but the utmost repsect for the AK's, but that whole post of your's is complete and utter bull.
Book burning session? Do you really believe that HTC installing a profanity filter is similar to the Book burnings that took place in the 30's in a well-known, European country? You've got to be kidding.
How many times do we have to say it? Aces High is a privately owned game, and HTC has the right to make whatever rules it deems neccessary to keep it's clientele happy.
Nobody ever said that the profanity seen or the people using it was evil. We said it was offensive and annoying.
And to those that are trying to compare us to Bible-thumping evangelists?! LOL, if only you knew how wrong you are.
People like me who pushed for some kind of filter are not close-minded. We are regular people like you, who would rather salute a foe, than swear at them. That's it. No hidden agenda, no secret McCarthyistic handshake.
To elevate it to anything more sinister is naive and ludicrous.
One thing we
do agree on, is that the majority isn't always right. But, in this case, it is, and HTC has listened.
Respectfully,
