What is it with these things? Do they KNOW your not at home? Mine kicked in high gear while I was in the middle of knowhere Virginia, 350 miles from home. I drove half way back and passed out in the back seat while my wife drove the rest. Got home, checked the internet for medical info. When it said "or more likely appendicitis", I hopped right back in the car.
That was about 2 months ago. I have a real nice 1.5 inch purple scar. The other 2 are almost gone.  Yeah, they scoped me, and I'm def. not obese.

Well THAT was sudden!  Make sure you send your CO all your medication so that I may test it for contamination.

Hope your feeling better!

I had my appendix out in the early eighties, just finished a weekend field exercise with my battalion. The next night at home I was vomitiing non stop, blamed the army food.  The tricky thing about appendicitis is that you don't neccessarily feel pain in that area. It's can go like food poisoning.  Then I saw a doc in the morning and I ended up in an ambulance complete with siren and flashing lights.  Operated on immediately  but was stuck in hospital for week and out of work for three weeks.  It was apparently a close run thing.

This was all before dissolvable stitches and keyhole surgery so I sport an impressive scar to this day. Appendicitis is so common almost routine but really quite dangerous if not caught.

There was this asian kid when I was in highschool.  He had to go in for his apendix one morning from school and had it cut out.  His parents made him come to school the next day   That dudes was a nerd,  but he was a tough GD nerd!

My best friends cousin (who died a bout 2 years after this story) had his apendix burst and he thought it was bad gas so he didn't go to the hospital.  Well the gas never went away for like 3 or 4 days and started get baaaad and he got real sick, I mean deathly ill.  His wife finally made him go to the emergency room and they found out his apendix had burst and he had gangreen inside his freaking torso    He was in the hospital for over a week getting well over that one.

Appendicitis sux.

Last year i got really ill, had to call a doctor out, got sent to hospital.

When there had to wait 5 hours in agony, no painkillers for a hospital bed (friggen useless POS NHS for ya) 2 weeks go by, nil by mouth so i cant eat and lose all weight.  They do loads of tests, cant find anything and send me home.

3 days later im back in A&E (accident and emergency) waiting for another hospital bed (about 4 hours this time). atleast this time im morphined up, they do more tests, cant find whats wrong, im supposed to have a lapiroscopy (sp? where they stick a camera inside of you!) but its delayed for 3 days running.

By this time we realise i have private health cover from where my mum works - and im moved to the private ward, the day im moved there (out of NHS) i get my operation, they realise from the camera i have had a blocked appendix and its leaked poison all inside of me.

They cut me open, take everything out and have to clean it.  I wake up after op expecting a little scar from camera and have a nice 8 inch cut down my front, lucky they didnt delay my op another day or apparently i would be dead.

In hospital recovering for another 2 weeks but they rush me out to home because the private ward closes for christmas, i get out of hospital weighing 8st (112lb's) from when i went in at about 11st (154lb) for someone thats 6ft tall.  Its taken me about 9 months to put the weight back on. I used to be able to run 100m in under 12 seconds and play 90mins football easy, now i doubt i could even finish sprinting the 100m!

Kinda sux when yer 19 years old and cant leave the fuggin house for a year, hence the time spent in AH!

damn furball!  that no painkillers the first time?

What sort of tests did they run?  They sent me for two CT scans.  First run they found nothing.  Second run they gave me a bad tasting 'contrast' to drink and injected a dye through my IV.  At first, the doctors suggested it might be a kidney stone, but the second test confirmed it was the appendix... and they also found a very small kidney stone.  Perhaps I'll have more fun in store for me in the future :)

yup, they thought it might be kidney stones for me too at first!  I got my xrays and stuff at home because my sister works at a hospital, and she got hold em for me.  Just counted em and i have 13 different sheets of scans and a little booklet of pictures of my kidney:-

Chest X-Rays
CT scans (same as you, abdomen with contrast)
Ultra Sound
MRI.

Cant remember which one was each, one was a tube they stick you in on a trolly that makes funny noises for 15 or so mins! other one was like a big donut they stick you through, and one was a kinda scanner they use to look at pregnant women!

They told us so much chit! they told my dad before my op that it could be cancer, before that they thought it could be krones disease, hepititus, gastroentitius, and pretty much every other illness you can think of, lol!
