More info

" After the end of WWII, British AFV designers began working on a replacement for the very successful Daimler Dingo Scout Car that had served them well for years. The War Office issued its requirements for the new scout vehicle in 1948, and a year later, Daimler, Ltd., of Coventry, was awarded a development contract. The resulting vehicle was so well received that it was accepted into service in 1952 and production lines continued to produce Ferrets through 1971, building over 4,400 before all was said and done."
