Title: Vox
Post by: Closer on August 05, 2010, 03:51:57 PM
There is a lot of muted vox at various times, like radio button sticking, but that is not the case. Been going on since miles started. The whole squad is noticing this glitch.

Our entire squad is also seeing this bug.

I've been seeing it in Squad and Range. It seems that for certain players, any transmission over about 4 seconds gets cut off. Doesn't happe with everyone, but for those that it happens to, its pretty regular.

Range is limited to 4 seconds of transmission time.

I've never heard that squad is, though.

I had a similar problem after the update.  My vox for channel was cutting off. Changing the transmit button location fixed the problem.  Go figure. .. :aok

I too have been having the same problem ever since the Miles update. Fed up with it I’m now searching the forums for an answer. As someone else indicated, range was always a four second limit, but channel – what ever it’s tuned to – was open-ended. The behavior I’m observing is, again on CHANNEL, I’ll be listening to someone’s transmission, such as BigRat in the TA, and I’ll stop getting VOX data (His voice) but will see that he’s still transmitting (Name in upper right corner). I’ll have to send him a request to “repeat after X” – X indicating the moment I lost transmission. The amount of transmission does not appear to apply to the 4 second rule like Range. I can loose him in the first syllable, or after 20 seconds.
I have noticed that I can force this behavior, some times, by hitting the TX button – either Range or Channel. I think that this is causing the MILES system to loose synch and truncate the transmission. What’s weird is, though I might be missing part of the transmission, other guys listening to the transmission hear the entire message. This would indicate that the problem, when initiated by hitting the TX while receiving, is local to my machine.
But, as I said, this can only be duplicated on demand some times. The random nature of this issue is making it difficult to troubleshoot.

As recent as last night I was talking to BigRat, and he said that it was difficult to teach because of this issue. Perhaps this is some new “feature” meant to make us get the feel of the 1940’s radios? But it feels like a bug to me.

Now, TUX, you said you resolved this by changing the TX button. Could you clarify that a bit. Are you saying that you’ve remapped the standard TX button “T” to some other button, such as “F11” for example? Or did you map it to a different button on your joystick?

I remapped the button i was using on the joystick for Tx or (T) button.

That is my finding as well--- but I can't force it to happen on demand.  Is HTC working on this , or is this only affecting so few of us it doesn't matter?

I get it too on squad vox.

I am also having this problem as are many in our squad.  It is quite intermittent as stated previously, making it hard to figure out.

It seems to have started with the miles sound system update.

     Problem Still There
Title: Re: Vox

By testing with the squad, I have been able to determine:

Person A starts talking, and the vox shuts off, but I still see him transmitting in the upper right corner.

I ask person A to repeat everything from the last thing I heard; however, most times it is only me affected by missing what person A says, other people on squad channel heard his entire transmission with no issues.

same here.

I can't reproduce it but it happens to me every hour at least one if not more.

I even changed my sound card to see if that was it but it wasn't.

Hummm......I've had the same problems as mentioned above, but now I've encountered something new. On occasion (several times in the last few days) whenever I hit the Transmit button (squad) I will lose ALL SOUND. Sometimes I can do the .Resetv 3 and it has brought back game sounds, on occasion. Other times, it takes an exit from the game, other times nothing short of a complete reboot. I suspect the problem may have something to do with a recent soundcard driver update, but not sure. I will roll back the driver when I get home this evening and see if that helps. I'll post results afterwards.

Well the roll back didn't help. I also tried to remap my transmit button on my throttle and use my keyboard for range commo. When I hit the F12 button, I got a WSOD. So I guess the game has become unstable on my system and the only thing left is to do a game reinstall. Hope this works.   :pray

Its probably not your system nutz, I have talked to at least 75 other people who are experiencing the same thing, last patch did not address this apparently.

I spent most all this weekend doing the reinstall of the game, and it seemed to go well at first. After waiting all of Friday night, all day Saturday and most of Sunday letting skins download, I discovered that my CH gear that I've been using now for about 4 yrs, will not retain their programing. In between watching football, and Honey do's,  I tried to figure out what would be causing the problem. As of this moment I'm still in the hunt for the culprit.

 I'll post what I find.

I had similar experiences both with coms and CH Nutzoid but, fortunately for me, I backed up all my files so it took me about an hour to get everything set back up and running fine.
Title: Re: Vox
Post by: Nutzoid on September 20, 2010, 02:32:51 PM
I should clarify. I just waited for the skins to download, while spending time elsewhere. I have everything backed up to an external hard drive, it's just that none of my CH gear would hold their programing. I have since learned that this seems to be a problem shared by a portion of the community. It's being dicussed in another thread, so there may already be a "cure" for this problem. Sure hope so.

I will jump in on this thread as I too have been having the same problems as listed before me in this thread. I initially thought it was some sort of PC or hardware problem. I have replaced sound cards joysticks head phones checked drivers & all seems to function fine every place else but in AHII.
The vox problems still persist for me after trying all of the above & more.

Mine are messed up also.  My transmissions  are cutt off, even after small words.  Some people in-game are real clear to me... :headscratch:

And they keep putting out patches to fix the things that are not broken and they break more stuff but never address the Vox problem that has persisted through many versions.  Sounds like they've gone corporate to me.

All the Best...

well....... a good place to possibly get some info or data regarding this problem would be in the SEA1 and SEA2 during most special events

I know 1st hand that this pops up in the KOTH every month for both Fri & Sat scheduled koths....

maybe HTC could maybe use someone's films of the event or look at the special events to see if their really is a problem, or if it is just mass hysteria...

I know AKDogg seems to look as if this affects him each month in the Sat. Koth in SEA2.....

just saying.......

(Using his Rainman voice)  There definitely is a problem.  Definitely, a problem.  Oh....oh no..... Definitely not working.    :headscratch:

This first appeared after I dl the latest Terrain Editor.  The X52 button used to transmit on Channel all of a sudden stopped working.  When I try and map it .... I does wickedly strange things.

I could just use the T talk button and it works fine.  The problem is..... THERE IS a PROBLEM.

It seems to randomly effect folks, so  :headscratch: if you haven't experienced it yet.  I will ask have you downloaded the last terrain editor, or had a recent crash to desktop during gameplay?  These are two areas where I anything on my end was different.  I suspect the CTD was caused by a sound error (all was normal and fired a tank round, and before I was able to hear the gun, I had a black screen and then desktop).

To the powers that be at HiTech:

It seems from my end that when two people push to talk at almost the same time,  the first one's remainder of the transmission is lost...and the second's never gets started....it has really become a pain...I appreciate the strive to improve and update the game for the future , but this issue has to be rectified before moving forward....to me it reduces playabilty/enjoyability by at least 30%...

thank you for your attention to this matter
Stoney12

on a side note the vox aren't as clear as they were before the update...

But the new graphics were a huge improvement...(didn't want the whole post to be negative...)

I have noted this at times but I think it is more based on the 4 sec time limit.  :salute

weird, i can hear everybody perfectly.  except when two people are talking at same time and if there's lots of radio chatter, then some transmissions get lost. but that is understandable.  you guys tested to see maybe too many people were talking on line?  maybe test a couple of guys only having a conversation, see what happens.

Yeah, I've had it happen a number of times with just two of us on squad channel.  We have a small squad, so there's frequently only two of us on at a time, easy to check.  there have been times when both of us have had the other cut out, but most of the time only one or the other will lose the end of transmissions.

Not an issue as far as any one else talking. Some of my squad hear the full transmission others it cuts out on them. Same thing for range as well.

I noticed it happens when you press to talk at a certain time during anothers transmission. Usually you can notice it if you try to talk right when they start talking.

Can you tell us what sound card the guy that has it worse with the changes is using? For the record... the port range forwarding suggestion cannot make it worse. Thats an improvement in connection if anything.
