HTC has been very good at releasing patches just after new releases, and I hope they don't cause more work for themselves by releasing it during the holidays (when they should be relaxing a bit).

BBS speculation on when the release will come out usually starts two weeks (no pun intended) from when it actually comes out. That's the other reason I say after the first.
