Title: Veterans Day
Post by: Puma44 on November 11, 2022, 08:53:00 AM
The eleventh month, the eleventh day, the eleventh hour.

Every year at this time, the memories of those I served with that have gone west become more vivid when we, as a nation, remember all of those who have served.  Very proud to have served with these guys.  Great pilots, squadron mates, and friends, one and all.

Captain Tom “T. Worthington” Brundige

Captain Ben “Moosebreath” Cothran

Lt Col Jeff “JD, Sly” Fox

Lt Col Tim “Timmy the Target” Desmarias

Col Mark “Sweet Pea, Side Show” Larson

Major Ed Newell

Major Carter Duke

ALL GAVE SOME, SOME GAVE ALL

Doug Hogan and I enlisted in the army Oct 1966 on the buddy system. My eyesight kept me out of armor and instead I went to air defense missiles. Doug was sent to Vietnam where he was wounded and received the bronze star I beleive he was there for Tet 68. Later we were both stationed in Germany, but he was in Berlin in an armor unit and because I had a top-secret clearance it was difficult to travel to Berlin. I've been told did they actually had to get toothbrushes and clean the tracks on their vehicles. For whatever reason Doug could handle Vietnam but he couldn't handle Berlin and he deserted. I didn't know he deserted until the date of our separation came up and I called his mother, and she told me he had left the army. It just amazes me that he could handle Vietnam, but the ******** in Berlin was more than he could handle. I pray that he has found peace   :salute

Thank God for those Heros who used their lives to save our own. The REALLY Sad part of life is if the majority or even all of the verterns were still here and didn't die for our safty and freedom we probably wouldn't have even had the chance to be born and live happily after the deathes of those Fathers Brother grandfathers and even our friends!

Thank you Grandpa, Dad and also to those out there and up there in the afterlife I  SALUTE LOVE AND KNOW HOW BADLY I've always needed you and your love!
