56th Fighter Group consisting of the 61st, 62nd, and 63rd fighter squadrons is seeking individuals willing to participate in semi-historically accurate Squad Operations.
The 56th FG in WWII flew P-47s(all variant) in support of bomber runs, Ground Attack missions and Fighter Sweeps.
Currently the 56thFG has a core of 8 pilots and seeks to increase its number of Fighter Pilots and include a detachment of hvy bomber pilots (4-10). This detachment will have the full support of the Fighter Group.
The 56FG flies for Knights on Thursday Evenings and is participating in Squad Events on Friday Evenings. Several pilots fly throughout the week.
We're an easygoing group of like-minded folks interested in getting the most out of AH. I've recently joined and really enjoy the consistent teamwork!

Yeah, it just wouldn't be fair for the rest of the arena for us to fly anything else...

How you guys fly those beasts and live I will never know. I remember how Ammo, Sancho, Frenchy and the rest would fly and live all the time. Best of luck in rebuliding your squad. Great aircraft and great group! :)
-
Thx Daddog
-
good bunch of guys, if you like the jug, these are the guys to teach you the ways of the jugs. :aok

Oh, really?? You tell me ;)

We're looking to expand our numbers and form a solid core of "Terrorflieger" to fly the jug with us.
Our squad focuses on flying proper formations; effective tactics in wingman pair, flight, and squadron level fighting. Generally kicking butt and living to tell about it. For more information, talk to any Squaddie in the MA or visit our website (http://www.56thfightergroup.com)
-
Oh yes, P47 is a great plane.
Hope to see formations of it!
We are flying spitV as squad plane and uping up to 10 at a time is great fun :)
Though we dont have the impact yet that we would like... its hard work and if you bring it together its a lot of fun and devasting.
Do you have any write ups on your flight tactics, flying with 2 or 3 flights at the same time? How do you do the training?

Hi Schutt
We have a (new) website at the link in my last post. Unfortunately, the historical section (with P-47 tactics) isn't completed yet. **Kicks Nomde and Padre in the junk to finish the website**
There is another good write-up (http://www.56thfightergroup.org/tac.html) with tactics that the 56th used. It's done by a 56th FG from another online sim, and does a good job of explaining jug tactics.
Thanks for stopping by.

WOW, this recruitment drive has me so worked up,,,,,I just gotta say,,,hey guys can I sign up again........:D I just love it when 8 of us fly formation for our big sweeps. 8 big jugs within 70yds of each other. And then when we go to combat formation. That 2k spread abreast, and each lead calls out the first victom. 8 jugs dropping on 4 cons, poor unsuspecting blighters. 4 planes fall in peices as we point our noses up to rinse and repeat. Man I can't wait for this thursday night.....................:aok
-
Nice website, hope to see more on it soon.
And the strat page it pretty intresting.
When are you flying your raids? probably i am in bed then... I think ah2 squads that flew in the european theater should fly at european day times :P)
-
Nice write up indeed
-
formations? BAH! Don't need that to shoot down MA dweebs. Sounds like jug gang-bangin to me ;)

Hi everyone, I'm the newest member of the 56th, although I've been around for quite a while. Back about 2-3 years ago, there was a Midway scenario, and I commanded a flight of SBD's. Although I didn't know you guys at the time, I see Nomde, Frenchy, and Pollock in the photos. Check it out!

Also, I have some nice kill/perk sorties. The first one is from the other night, ~20 perks for 5 kills, one of which was a 262. The other photo is from 2002'ish timeframe, and gave me ~20 perks for 11 kills. Look forward to wreaking havoc like this all the time!

I have to admit i have a real affinity for Jugs.....:D
-
If you enjoy flying jugs, you'll enjoy flying with us. But if you dont join us just know it's our top priority on our fighter sweeps to elminate all possible p47 threats. (Simply because they are the only threats.) So you might as well join.

:rofl I like this logic
I have to say, after seeing 56th fly it makes me want to learn the jug a little better. I fly hogs, and the +2 guns/+better dive ability of the jug makes it appealing, but I still cant grasp it as well. Think I'm gonna go fly em a bit now...at the risk of being hunted down by yucca..
-
...at the risk of being hunted down by yucca..
Or Blukitty!
Or Nomde!
Or Husky01!
OR keeler!
or Padre!
Or Frenchy!
Or SLayr1!
Or XnovaX!
Or Platano!
.........ect..........
O hell im scared of all of them!
-
How did plat get on that list?

Hey Yucca i already fly for the 479th so i can't be in two squads. Anyway i already fly the P-38 so i pretty much fly a Jug anyway....:p :D
-
BUMP..... I just joined the 56th FG. These guys are like a family in the sky; best group guys I have ever met in any multiplayer game.
You put these guys all together in the sky with JUGS, and you feel safe just flying next to them.
-
man i wish i was a 56th :(

P47... Damn great plane! I used to fly with Talen and the 78th FG. P47 was our main crate. Ever since flying with those guys, I have had an undying appreciation for the men who flew those machines to combat in WW2.
P47: Best WW2 airplane ever... 'nuff said.

For some reason my E-mail is exceeding a quota with just 2 Sentences. So I'll ask here.
I would like to join the 56th Fighter group. I am a pretty good stick, and like to fly the P-47. Put me where you need me if you do let me in, for I can do a job pretty well. <S>

I will vouch for barko because Im such a nice guy :)
If there is anyone that loves Allied planes(especially 8th Air Force) only. It would be barko, sent him so many dirty PMs to get him to come over to the dark side in DOB but he wouldn't budge. Barko is a good kid and becoming into a very good stick. He would be a nice addition to any squadron
