My goodness it has to be the Best looking and immersive Sim that I have ever seen!!!!

I am running it at 1024x768 with quintux HRAA at around 45 FPS on GF3 with Full Extreme SETTINGS.. OMG!! its AWESOME!!
sorry HTC , I dont mean to boast as to compare ACEs.. but WOW.
I really like the Mouse Look View.. STRANGE as it is.. it actually seems more realistic
I have mapped My left Mouse button for throttle up.. and Right for Throttle Down..
and Mouse movement for Virtual 360 Cockpit movement.
Rudder pedals for rudders, Lefty stick for Stick.. wow. strange setup but almost completey natural..
I dont know what to say except WOW.. argh I feel like I am in a way betraying Aces..
The Flight model seems Very very NICE too..
Very responsive as it doest seem to have a netcode limiter (in order to prevent warp rolls and other such display anomolies)
Anyone else THink it ROCks thier world????

Yep, pretty tasteless deez posting this on the Aces High general discussion board. Kinda like walking in a store at the counter and telling the customers how the guys down the roads store has *really cool stuff* (with the owner standing there!) :eek:

Im am not trying to say HEY LOOK .. forget about HTC look at this.. ALL i am saying is Holy cow.. I download the demo last night and am saying what I have thought about it so far..
question : Why would this be any differnt If i posted this in the Officer club??
People talk about other sims all the time.
All I am asking is has anyone had the same REPSONSE that I had from seeing this New Sim..

The O' Club is more appropriate for this thread, however, personally it doesn't bother me if you post it here.

deez i think posting in general was a little bit naughty mate...HOWEVER, thanks for letting me know theres a demo...im D/Ling it now :)
O'club would have been more polite i guess,
but as this game isnt a pay as you play online game it isnt really stepping on HTCs toes.so from my point of veiw this was a much appreciated peice of info :)
lets not rip into him for just being excited by a game and trying to help us discover it eh?

IMO this topic is a "no biggy." It's the same as three years ago when EAW came out and everyone in the AW and WB's boards were talking about it. It's a box sim. They're fun for a little while if you're mainly into MMPOG. And if your not into MMPOG then you're most likely not a customer and in which case you're probably not hanging out here in the ubb to begin with :)
I got the demo and I'm eagerly looking forward to trying it out later at home. But, again, it's not a MMPOG and no one should feel threatened by someone just talking about it. Even if quite animated :) It's not the same as going to WB's and with much thumping of the chest announcing the latest AH release - or vice-versa. AH and WB's are direct competitors and doing that is not considered kosher.

I have never posted in the O'club before (not that I can recall ever) and this was the only thing that I thought made sense.
I mean it is a series issue right? hehe :D
Any way, No I dont think HTC should feel threatend.
That would be only if Il2 became an online sim with more options.
RIght now I know it Rules anything I have seen graphically and detail wise to aircraft models.
The FM is about on par with Aces, The only thing I see wich is diffent would be compression.

Fester, If the rumors are true, then it may have been taken off the web sites.
I could send it to you directly if you want. We Would have to do it most likely over a direct connection, Somehitng like AOL instant messaganger would work. Unless you have some super huge unlimited Email size limit :D

hehe Graphix are awesome.. but that aint all it excells in.. Id say that it has a very good flight model... almost same as aces...
In my opinon better in alot of ways...sorry htc
The take off and landings especially ground roll control are simply amazing..
Ground looping is definatly more prone to happen if you dont take off correctly...
tap the wing ,even pull back to harsh.. and smack the tail on the ground.. Boom.. tail gets crushed up.. or even falls off.. very crazy stuff..
anyway.. theres so mmuch more.. i just kinda feel that people have to try it to see.. and alitel wierd talking aobut how great it is here..
get a Gforce 3 also to see it in all its glory! hehe

It's ok to let us know about it, but now you're bordering on being downright rude, especially when folks still might associate you with the x-plane crap.

Cobra to this very day... X-plane simulates flight better than aces and il2.... I dont care anymore I just know it is truth.. have nothing to hide behind that..
poeple disagree.. fine... most people who do, havent even tried the dang program.. Oh well..
I downloaded a program that is not aces hi competition, but if it really wanted to be.. It could be, and keep htc on thier toes.
its reality here, not hide the feelings behind what we think of a program.. why hide feelings.. or .. simply move the Same ideas to another forum? Whats with all the hiding?
If Il2 turns out to be great then so be it.. Perhaps HTC is looking at IL2 right now and saying hey thats cool we could do that..
maybe thier not.. Idunno im not them..
Im so sick of people who are so Political about Saying.. the RIGHT THING... when in a particular enviroment to sound as if they are sweet sweet angles that support the every wishing idea, or outcome of a developers program.
If Il2 SUCKED i would still say that.. its not like I have some Bias opinon against or for anything.. .. I Take it for its face value, as well as thourogh testing.

i don't get it - it seems some people just jump on any opportunity to say something is better than aces high on the ah bbs - it's funny, i think some have personal issues. :)

This is a community as well as a business.
This thread reminds me of the BigWeek BBS about 2 years ago. I just hope Dale/Doug pay more attention to it than Moggy/Mage did to the BW Board.

AI pilots are actually the best I have met in any sim yet.. still they are not like human opponents.
Still it is a boxed sim with max 32 pilots online. It is not a competitor to Aces High... do not worry ;) At least I will fly both.

Just had a look at it. My first impression was "Visually stunning???" Nope, looks just like Janes WW2 fighters IMO. Terrain is better though. It looks OK, maby good but not visually stunning.
The feeling of speed flying NOE is really cool
FM..eh its a boxed sim, you dont buy those for the FM. WB and AH superior imo.
That mouse view sucks! One hand on stick, other on throttle....Exactly how is this supposed to work? Snap view and padlock are the same as any other sim.
It looks like fun, Id play it probably but im not going to jump on it at $59.95 "there abouts anyways" when it hits staples. I may grab it when it gets cheaper.

it's just funny - why not post a realistic calm lower case opinion in the opinion section and not all this my daddy can beat up your daddy bullsh&% - just calls to mind an image of a spurned teen girl trying to get even by proxy of someone elses work and coding.
or better yet who cares? if you have found nirvana why are you so intent on gaining converts? it's a boxed sim just go play it and revel in the fact that you are in the 733t crowd that knows about it. all the comparisons are just veiled jabs and if you're gonna disguise those jabs as opinions then it's lamo.

deez i will whoop out my pom poms, sing 'oh ricky you're so fine' and form an il2 pyramid and fan club with the other cheerleaders if they:
a: lighten the landscape so i can see those wonderful graphics
b: clean the damned windshield. seriously - it's simpy ridiculous and negates every other positive aspect of the game and renders it unplayable.
i will exthol its virtues in the o'club as a boxed sim and not as the big bully that's gonna 'make it right' for people disaffected by the ah community.
it's a terrific sim in many ways and i am seriously impressed by most of it - i'm just getting tired of these sims that make you squint to see what's going on. all the bells and whistles mean nothing if your groping in the dark through a dirty windscreen.

Thats nice 'cause now it really is far from reality.
Dam my cars glasses looks like that IF I look glass itself but when I look out of car I can't see any stains on the glasses.

I downloaded this huge file and checked out the game.
Not impressed at all.
View controls are very difficult to set up. I use a CH F16 Fighter stick and the settings I have programed are nearly impossible to setup in Il2.
Also, the flight models and graphics remind me a lot of FA2, rather "Gamey" feeling.
That 109 looks like a model my son painted with his water colors. :\
The external view is a pain in the arse, if you turn, the view doesn't follow. Dumb.
Gunnery I got VERY steady behind a Yak at .1 and held the triggers down easing the controls to spread the spray around. Rather few hit for as much lead as I threw around!
Rain: ick!
Distant Aircraft: Good thing they have Icons, I couldn't tell what they were at 800 yds. (BTW, I can make out most planes from miles away) (USN Vet. Aircrew)
Summary: Gonna clean that hdd space out now.

IL-2's spin/stall model bugs me a bit..
Planes tends to always spin so that tail drops and nose raises up.
Then it goes into a flat spin.
It also comes quite easily without any warning and once it begins to enter in the spin, its almost impossible to stop from entering further in the spin, but possible to recover then.
Few times I've managed to nearly flip over on the runway when stall occurs and nose suddenly raises up, plane lifts off and when plane is almost completely upwards, it crashes on its tail.
funny.. if it happens at 100-130kph, shouldn't it just smash on its belly or flip over side?
If lift is too low to keep plane in the air, then how does it suddenly raise its nose facing upwards.
