Tomorrow (Friday) is the anniversary of Adlertag (Eagle Day) in the Battle of Britain.
Join us to commemorate the Battle of Britain, specifically Adlertag or "Eagle Day", which took place on August 13, 1940 and which was the start of the Luftwaffe's attacks against the RAF over British soil.
All are welcome to play.
Runs on August 13 in Special Events II Arena at:
-- 2 pm Eastern Time (7 pm UK time)
-- and at 8:30 pm Eastern Time
"What General Weygand called the Battle of France is over. I expect that the Battle of Britain is about to begin. Upon this battle depends the survival of Christian civilization. Upon it depends our own British life, and the long continuity of our institutions and our Empire. The whole fury and might of the enemy must very soon be turned on us. Hitler knows that he will have to break us in this Island or lose the war. If we can stand up to him, all Europe may be free and the life of the world may move forward into broad, sunlit uplands. But if we fail, then the whole world, including the United States, including all that we have known and cared for, will sink into the abyss of a new Dark Age made more sinister, and perhaps more protracted, by the lights of perverted science. Let us therefore brace ourselves to our duties, and so bear ourselves that, if the British Empire and its Commonwealth last for a thousand years, men will still say, 'This was their finest hour.'" -- Winston Churchill, June 18, 1940.

For the first running (and there is another at 8:30 pm Eastern Time), the logs are posted here (in the TDI section):
http://www.ahevents.org/event-logs.html
The results of this first running are:
Allies
---------
kills = 88
total = 88 points
Axis
---------
kills = 66 = 66 points
objects destroyed = 199 = 20 points
total = 86 points
Ye gods, that is close! The allies win by a mere 2 points!
Well done, everyone, and thanks for flying.
There is another running of it at 8:30 PM Eastern Time today.

lol i got 1/2 the objects.
Those Ju 88's are monsters, monsters, I tell you! (From a guy who flew Hurricanes.)

Actually it was a lot of fun playing Radar Officer for the first hour. It made me realize the importance of those guys. I spent a lot of time listening to radio chatter, getting contact reports from pilots and matching them up with what I was seeing. With Spits and Hurris on different channels, I had to type a lot of info out to make sure we had proper intercept in the early stages. I think in the future I might want to do more of this kind of thing for events. Very strategic.

Axis
-----
49 kills = 49 points

Wow -- another very, very close one. This one, the axis wins by 5 points.
Way to go, folks; and thank you very much for flying! :salute :aok

It's one thing to read about Tuck's crusade to get cannons on the Spits and Hurris, and quite another to be able to calmly finish your Ju-88 bombing run while beebees are impacting all around you, turn for home, then still have time to jump in the gunner spot to chase the Spit off.
<S> to the Hurri that chased me all the way back across the Channel and across A46. Again with just beebees there was plenty of time for friendlies who were upping from 46 to finish him off for me and let me land the damage.

Thanks for the excellent pics! :aok
