Post by: Brooke on February 12, 2021, 01:20:49 AM
Shoichi Sugita - 70 kills
Saburo Sakai - 64 kills
Naoshi Kanno - 48 kills
Iyozo Fujita - 42 kills
Kaneyoshi Muto - 35 kills
Hiroshi Okano - 19 kills
Minoru Honda - 17 kills
Isamu Miyazaki - 13 kills
Chitoshi Isozaki - 12 kills
Masao Sasakibara - 12 kills
Mitsuo Hori - 11 kills
Takahide Aioi - 10 kills
Kazuo Muranaka - 8 kills
Yoshio Shiga - 6 kills
Takashi Oshibuchi - 6 kills
Yoshishige Hayashi - 5 kills

They all flew in 343 Kokutai, Japan's elite air group of aces, formed and commanded by Minoru Genda in late 1944.

Genda's Blade, formed to fight the best the best from America, they flew N1K2's.

*You* can fly in an elite air group of N1K2's in the March Scenario "Battle of Leyte".  :aok

There are seven N1K2's remaining, and one of them has your name painted on the side.  :aok  Registration is here.

Thse airplane match ups for the event are going to be very interesting. One would think the Yanks have the edge but I wouldn't be so fast to assume. The Japanese fighters have several advantages. Thoughts?

A well-flown Frank is the equal of any plane in the game, and it's superior to most.

Yes and Ive spent some time in a KI-84, not that I'm any good in it, and its a very capable airplane too. I'm think the dive and roll, along with teamwork, will give the P47s an edge but the truth is were going into this wanting to fight and if we find ourselves turn fighting against these Japanese planes we might end up in trouble. Plus they can really accelerate and this is a problem too especially if you find yourself slow in a 47.

And both have HO-20mm cannon, the Nik 4 and the KI-84 2 along with 2 0.50 MGs so they bring a lot of firepower to the show and are a real danger to our Bombers as well. I'm hoping the fight stays way up high where the Yank fighters will have the edge. 30,000' is just fine with me but I dont remember any B24s being involved in Leyte offhand.

Hellcats and USN dive bombing and torpedo planes were involved, to bad we dont have the numbers to man these squadrons too.
