I only flew one sortie last night but I have this new puter with all the settings max'ed out and as I was flying in and out of clouds last night I was amazed at how good the game looked.
Yeah I know there are better looking games but this one just plays so seamlessly with no stutters or lock ups. Ive always said this is very well written software. Today I think I'll fly AH for my entire game day. :salute

Actually i have been thinking the same thing. I splurged out in a sale a few weeks back and bought Battle of Stalingrad and 3 updates, Cliffs of Dover and Desert Wings and subscribed to this one for a month. I was kicked out of the internet about 12 times or so with poor server connections but this one has a rock solid connection and very good frame rates. :aok

Man, I was so impressed when I got my PC. Last time I played, it was on a 10 year old dell with all the settings on minimum. Now I’m playing with them maxed and it’s a totally different world!

love going up into the clouds and fly thru them not paying attention, them come out upside down in a dive.
:rofl :rofl

I don't play other games so don't know the current state of the art for graphics, but find the AH environment quite immersive. And agree, the clouds are beautiful. :aok
-
Other games might have prettier cockpits..who is looking there while fighting...AH is the perfect blend of graphics and playability compared to all other multiplayer flight sims out there IMO

Really thinking about getting back in the game after 5 or so years. Think it’s getting near the time I keep seeing vids on fb for war thunder and such but those are wayyy to Arcady and definilty miss this

I can so relate to this. I seem to fly into the water and tress more in VR for some reason though.

I think the best thing about it is you can run it on bleeding edge hardware but it is still playable on old gear if you don't have the budget for the newest.
-
I agree with all the positive sentiments above. Flying through clouds on sunny days is just cool. Dust is also a nice time to just be flying around. Some of the newer maps have really beautiful topography as well. I really do appreciate a pretty map.
Two things that could use improvement,,
1) cockpit shadows are still low res.
2) Trees still glint too much creating a kind of flicker effect that creates the business of motion when there really isn't any. It's visually distracting especially when looking for moving vehicles.
But those are small complaints compared to the overall appearance and emersion of the game. :rock

i would add the transitions from dawn to night or water you can see - to a featureless surface (my graphics settings?), could us e bit-o-tweaking, maybe a longer transition instead of sudden shift.... but eys the amount of eye candy vs payablility seems to have hit close to the middle. although when I see IL dogfights on you tube, and listen to the sounds... i do wish a bit. being able to plug in tacview would be incredible!

Sun ups and downs look really good. To tell you the truth a lot of times I just fly up to 15 to 20 k and just look at the game, especially when i can also hear a Yank radial engine in the headphones. :D

Yesterday I lost a N1k in the clouds.
In AH II the clouds were ghetto as hell.

Aces High graphics are still great for me. Wish I could somehow force the game to run at a higher resolution than 1080p, like 4K if possible. I have a 1080p monitor but would like the benefit of super-scaling to get anti-aliasing without losing situational awareness. Does anyone know if it is possible to super-scale?
Another amazing game to blow your mind on grapphics is :https://store.steampowered.com/app/307960/IL2_Sturmovik_Battle_of_Stalingrad/ IL2 Battles.
I've only played it like 20 hours or so in single player but the graphics are amazing. I'd play more but the multiplayer just isn't as fun as AH, and the Single Player just gets boring when you know you can boot up AH and fight against real people defending/taking a base/objective.
-
IL2 and DCS are very pretty but have visibility issues and gameplay issues.
When you can't see a con unless it is shooting you nor have anything showing on the map, enjoyment is stifled for me
AH has the best balance for my money

One thing about AH is that it is simply fun and not as stressful as some of the more realistic simulations.
Players in AH are usually chilling with a beer in hand, chewing the fat on 200 and having a great time getting killed repeatedly.
I miss having to squelch the redneck GV chatter like they are having a coffee morning. :airplane:

They're similar, but true GVs weigh less and turn better.
