Two nights ago while I was still on the Knight side. A new player was asking for help. A player on our team insisted on giving him a hard time. The topper was when he told him to use ALt f4. We pointed out to him that there was a total of 74 players at the time and we needed any one who was in it interested in the game. Ultimately the guy signed off with the experience that AH3 players were a bunch of A-holes.
We need to do what we can to help new players! :old:

I whole heartily agree with you 1Cane, we all need to do what we can to help the new players and newer members of the AH Community out in any way we can!

I too, hope you .report "gameid" that player's text and possibly screenshot the "expanded text buffer" or was filming.. So that you could email the screenshot or film in to HTC, to let HTC know and be aware of who this player is that was "griesquealing another player (especially a new player to AH3)
It sounds like your side tried to call-out the player on their BS, 1Cane.. Maybe if more players would have noticed what was happening/going on, they could have spoke up and make the griefer to realize the error of his actions...if he was to understand that being rude and acting out towards a new AH3 player most likely cost HTC more than the one player.....it could very well cost HTC multiple new players and new AH3 Community Members......

Thanks for not stating who it was on the bbs. But by all means please report the next time it happens. Reports also generate logs for me to look at.

I remember falling for that Alt-f4 trick back in the early days of Warbirds. I wasn't that annoyed about it and promptly restarted the game with myself to blame.

We need every new guy we can get, simply put. Although I personally think it's a bit overblown that one dolt will destroy a person's desire to play the game. If having to restart the game kills their desire to play it, will they need to be put on suicide watch the first time they get picked?

Me too, back in 2008. I almost made the mistake of quitting, because I figured everyone in the game was a dick like that.
Glad I stuck around though. I met a lot of great people here.
I hope the new guys will try and give this game (and the community) a fair shake.

Yes, but today's first time players seem to have a harder time learning the ropes. We need to give them more time to get hooked before we start playing tricks like this.

Some of you assume that every gamer understands what was going on when you told him to hit Alt F4.
Some of you assume anyone asking for help is just a dweeb gamer and not someone interested in WW2 aviation and history.
Some of you assume that the new guy cares nothing about the Aces High community and the environment fostered within that community.
Some of you assume that there are no consequences to such childish jokes.
Some of you assume that it's your duty to club clueless noobs with Alt F4.

Wow a thread about alt+F4. Well for all of you that wonder why, people do it, I am guessing it is because it didn't happen to you. It is actually kind of like an initiation, at least it seemed that way to me and when I came back in, I actually felt more accepted.
If you think simple hazing, I am not referring to truly derisive comments, but the fact that the idea of tricking someone into force quitting the game, sends them away, never to return...why are you playing a war sim?
I never come to the forums, I came to post about the weird new night and when I saw this thread, I wondered if I was in it. Now I am. I'm probably not going to check replies and for the record, I don't generally haze, but not on behalf of the noob. Everybody is on such strained behavior around noobs, these days. It's like we exude, "please stay and play with us." So I just don't rock the boat, generally, people freak out about the littlest things.

Whether you think it's funny or an initiation is irrelevant. The one guy who's opinion really matters seems to have an issue with it.

I never mind helping out new players if I have the knowledge. I actually started to read this thread to argue I was the worse player in the game. If we are discussing skill, I feel I am a contender.
FWIW - We should ALL try to help out new players when they have questions. For the most part, I have seen the community step up to assist when someone asks the questions. That is a good sign.
Cane is on point with his OP. Help them and help to grow our community. We all know how steep the learning curve is.
I hope to get a little more stick time in the MA. Wouldn't mind posting a few missions to join just to get the newer players a little more engaged in the game. Its simply tough when the numbers are a little low.
