Title: Oculus sensor usb extension
Post by: Puma44 on June 28, 2019, 08:40:24 PM
In order to make cable management more convenient, I used 6 foot usb extensions for my two sensors.  When I opened up the Oculus software, it showed the sensors not plugged into correct outlets.  Both extensions where plugged into 3.1 USB ports in the computer.  Any idea why this is happening?

You need and "active" extension cable, something like the one I use.

https://www.amazon.com/CableCreation-Extension-Extender-Repeater-Booster/dp/B0179MXKU8/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=CableCreation+Active+USB+Extension+Cable+%28Long+16.4+FT%29%2C+USB+3.0+Extender&qid=1561773693&s=electronics&sr=1-1

I had to re-setup whenever I installed new hardware. Apparently that is to be expected. Oh, and I found that with my hardware, 2.0 for the sensors worked just fine but added a 3.0 PCIe card along with the extension cable just the same. Maybe because of the cable requirements.
